Pickens County Museum of Art & History — Attraction in Pickens

This museum exceeded our expectations because there was a lot more to see than expected. We were most interested in learning about Fort Prince George (now underneath Lake Keowee) and were pleasantly surprised that they even had a model and lots of accompanying information. There were also many pictures/information of important people from this area. Tyler M., Park, Recreation, & Tourism Director was at the facility during our visit and provided us with a wealth of information. All staff were helpful and friendly. Great indoor experience for kids. They have lots of history displays about the area to read through, but the highlight was the interactive stations throughout the museum for kids. From doctor/dentistry to ice cream shop to hardware store, each play area highlighted a local store and its ties to Pickens while also providing an entertaining activity for kids to play.
