I traveled quite away to try their popular chicharon with guacamole. First off, there's not a plate on the menu that has those items together. You have to order them separately. I ordered 1/2 a pound of chicharon, 1/2 a pound of guacamole, and 1/2 a pond of salsa de molcajete. The chicharon came out cold, tough, and chewy in a plastic bag. The guacamole was nothing special and the salsa was watered down. This place is not well catered for indoor dining as well. I asked for utensils, and the lady went to the back and brought me a fork and spoon and gave me three paper towels from a roll of paper she had under the front counter. This place is off a main street so there's very limited street parking in the front otherwise parking is in the back and easy to miss. They also charged me a $1 fee to use a credit card. I was just overly dissatisfied. Save the drive it's not...

I stop by for the first time and I purchased carnitas, chicharrones, and guacamole. The carnitas were good, the chicharrones were very hard and had a burnt taste. I ended up throwing them away. I didn't care for the guacamole, it had a very strong cilantro taste. As we drove away I was looking at my receipt when I noticed that she charged me twice for the carnitas. The weird part was that it said carnitas $14.47 and right under it it said hot food $14.47. Why did she ring it up as two different names? When I went back she apologized and said that it must of accidentally scanned twice. But again, why would it show as two different names on the receipt? She refunded my money but somehow I feel that it was a scam and not an accident. In the reviews I see that I am not the only one this has happened to. I won't be coming back...

This place is my new favorite spot. I love Mexican food and I drove 20 minutes just to get their carnitas and chicharron. Found them on Instagram and decided to get food for my cheat day over there. Best decision ever! Been there twice and I tried fried plantain, chicharron in salsa verde, regular crunchy chicharron, chicharron norteno, carnitas, birria. Tried also their molcajete and tomatillo salsa. Everything was just unbelievable, so good and fresh. Their staff is pretty nice, I don't fully speak Spanish but I did my best lol! Those guys took couple minutes to chat with me when I told them I'm Italian...they were super nice! I'm telling to all my friends about this place, I can't wait to go...

@lamano_tortilleria is the place where I’ve been seeing the Chicharron dunked in the Guacamole - and I’ve been wanting to try it SO bad…today was the day!! Then, standing in line I met Tony @el_pelon39 and he said to get the Burrito that starts with melting and caramelizing cheese on the flat top, next with the Carnitas and the Cueritos (skin), then rice and beans and drizzle on some smokey firey housemade salsa and this thing is insane!!! I also grabbed a pack of freshly made corn tortillas that i ate in the car on the way home they were so warm and delicious. The tamales here were perfect! Sometimes you get tamales and they’re mostly thick masa and sometimes a little rubbery…not these. Perfect size, flavor and the right amount of masa, in my opinion. I had such an incredible lunch here, you gotta come check out La Mano Tortilleria in Pico Rivera and Maywood.

@lamano_tortilleria is serving a VERY spicy Torta Ahogada (which translates in English as drowned sandwich). This type of sandwich comes from Guadalajara, Mexico, and in order for it to be a true Torta Ahogada, i’m told it must be spicy, and the spicier, the better. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥🔥🔥 The bread is a special type of Bolillo roll with a crust able to hold up after “drowning”, a layer of refried beans is added, massive chunks of juicy carnitas is stuffed in, then the whole sandwich gets drowned in a tomato based sauce, then the fiery spicy red sauce is poured over the top, and finally pickled red onions are added. LOTS Chile de arbol is what is responsible for bringing the heat 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵🥵🥵 If you can’t handle a lot of spice, it might be wise to have a little milk standing by that will help relieve the burning in your mouth and on your lips 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 This Torta Ahogada is $10.99, and you shoulda also ask for a small side of the spicy sauce. That first bite is right through the softened roll, the deep chile aroma goes right up your nose, your teeth sink through the tender fatty carnitas, followed by a nice tang from the pickled red onions. It’s glorious!!🥵🥵🥵🥵 . 📍LA MANO TORTILLERIA 9237 Whittier Blvd Pico Rivera, CA 90660
