Let me start off by saying, the food is delicious. Portion sizes are great shift for the price point. The atmosphere and music choice is lovely. Now I’d like to point out some pro’s and con’s. Our server who’s name i believe is Tasha on our first visit was very knowledgeable. Her bubbly personality is contagious. She wore a smile on her face and to watch her interact even with elderly guest could melt your heart. We’ve dined in a few times since our first visit which has been nearly a month ago. we’ve caught guest requesting her, hugging, waving, saying bye, literally treating and chatting with her like family. Yet, somehow even with all this going on, our food came out in a timely fashion, hot and all the condiments she thought we would need were brought ahead of time. We didn’t have to ask for refills, leftovers to be boxed, what desserts are offered, coffee etc. my husband and i are in the industry and think it’s rare for the positives to be pointed out! We asked her to thank the cooks for such a delicious meal and even the presentation was done nicely.
Now to some issues. On our first visit, there was a young man and woman behind the register. They were displaying some unprofessional behavior together. Hands all over each other, kissing etc. This young woman was not in working attire. So, I’m not sure why she was working. This young woman was our waitress on our second maybe third visit. She was nice however, was not very knowledgeable and did not provide the service we expected. We even gave signs anyone would have picked up on. An empty glass at the edge of a table, is requesting a refill, correct? Oh, well it was just a bit disappointing considering it was not busy. The food was delicious and the music was great to listen to.
Our most recent visit wasn’t up to the same standard as our first visit but was an improvement. It was difficult to watch our waitress struggle to keep up. The young woman was pregnant and trying her best to move around. We didn’t want to ask her for items we needed due to her looking like she wasn’t feeling well.
I also heard from other guests that there’s another location owned by the same owners called “cafe sitaly”My friend and i dined there this wk. The location is very small. Not really a location I’d like to dine in but everyone is different. The food was great. The servers lacked the basic fundamentals of service. Maybe these waitresses should train a couple days at Pomodoro. Also, hearing how the heavier built gentleman spoke to the employees was astounding.
To end this review i would like to state i enjoy the food and atmosphere. We can’t wait to dine outdoors at Pomodoro. I know what my husband and i have to do as far as service. Continue to do what your doing and hopefully these small issues can be resolved. All the added details outdoors look amazing. Great job! We’re happy to have you as an addition to our...
Read moreWe have been to Cafe Pomodoro twice. The first time was at the lunch hour, and we were served efficiently, and the food was terrific. Our waiter appeared to be serving the entire restaurant alone, without any other staff. That concerned us, but our experience was top notch. The second time when went to Cafe Pomodoro was on a Monday night. The restaurant, much to our surprise, was full to capacity, and very loud. We thought - good - this restaurant is going to survive in a very tough business. We arrived about 7:00 pm and could see within minutes that they were woefully understaffed, as the one waitress was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, and the hostess was serving tables and seating new guests. We sat. We waited. Fifteen minutes into sitting at our table, the hostess took our drink orders. A few minutes after that, a waiter came and asked for our drink orders and we told him they were already taken. We never saw him again. The hostess came with our drinks after another ten minutes. So, 30 minutes into our meal, we only had drinks. Finally, the hostess came over and asked us if our order had been taken and we said NO, so she took it herself, offered us bread (but also told us it was still baking) and re-filled our drinks. We ordered a chopped antipasti, and expected that to be out quickly. Boy, were we wrong. Another 40 minutes, and the hostess brings us hot bread. It's delicious. Still, no appetizer. We waited and waited and waited. An hour and 20 minutes in, our pizza and my husband's pasta dish arrived. Our antipasti appetizer arrived at the same time as our hot food. We couldn't stand to let our hot pizza , and my husband's carbonara to get cold, so we ate our hot food. Of course, we were too full to eat our appetizer, and the hostess immediately offered to box it up. I would have preferred it be taken off the check, since we did not order take-out. We certainly weren't going home and eat the antipasti, it would have to be eaten the next day. Epic fail. The hostess tried to make the best out of a disastrous staffing problem. She was apologetic, and was doing 15 things while still serving us. I don't think she expected to be waiting tables and receiving people at the door. Your restaurant closes at 9:30 pm. We finally left at 9:05 pm. Despite Cafe Pomodoro's delightful food, we will not be back. Our dinner experience was one of the worst we've...
Read moreFood pretty good for the price point. Ordered lemon chicken over angel hair and spinach. Generous portion and very fresh chicken breast, although the angel hair is really just spaghetti. Somewhat bland, but still good. Great outdoor seating area.
A few thoughts on service:
Waitresses should consider talking a lot less about their personal issues in the middle of this very small restaurant. We don't come to enjoy a meal only to hear you talk about your car and money problems for 45 minutes.
Also, prefer not having to watch you sling pizza in your mouth as you wait your tables. Can you eat before your shift or in the back?
I ordered chicken piccata. Thats chicken over spinach and pasta. You served me chicken and spinach ... Forgot the pasta. You blamed the chef but why? You are the one who brought my food to the table. You really didn't see that 50% of my meal was missing from the plate? Why served food if you can't quality check it before you serve it?
With respect, are tight, black (and dirty) yoga pants really your preferred food...
