I'm disappointed every time I go to this place. I wanted to like it, I've tried multiple times thinking it would get better, but no. There may be positive aspects of this place that I don't know, I'll just cover the problems I've had so far.
I was overcharged on my first visit. I had to go back through all the items myself to figure out what went wrong. There didn't seem to be an easy way to refund my money so I had to accept an additional item. Not the end of the world but not a good first experience, customer service was definitely lacking.
High pressure to tipping. This place uses a few high pressure tipping strategies, seems weird considering its just a juice bar in Delaware. I self served some juices from the refrigerator at the front, when I paid with my card I was prompted on the screen to leave a 10,15,or 20% tip, the cashier kept asking me to make a selection. Granted, there is probably a way to not leave a tip on the screen but you shouldn't even be prompted on self serve items. Additionally, they have a tip container at the register, I get that, makes sense. The weird part is, they keep the container filled with a large amount of cash, obviously indicating that you should leave a large cash tip (because everyone else is right?) I was there first thing in the morning and there was a full container of cash, obviously it's part of the strategy. Wouldn't be as much of an issue if the service wasn't so bad.
The customer service is bad, feels unwelcoming, buying something seems like a hardship. Granted, I've only dealt with the person who's always working the cash register, but from my experience, other reviews, and talking to people I know - this is a major issue.
No nutritional information. There is no nutritional information labels on any of the pre made items. There are calorie numbers on the website only for smoothies and bowls, but still not a full nutritional breakdown. Considering this place is supposed to be "healthy" I would like to know the exact information for any of the items I buy.
Consistency. There is no consistency at this place. I've bought toast 3 times, one was good, the other two were so bad I threw them out. I've also bought jucies that have been completely different on separate occasions. I had a charcoal lemonade the other day (probably the 4th one I've had so far) and it was so thick with charcoal I had to throw it out. You never know what you're going to get here. Ill include some pictures of the toasts. The owner drank a sample of one of the juices while I was there and said something along the lines of "this wasn't made right".
Online ordering. The online ordering app doesn't include the pre made juices, so you have to do a separate transition when you get to the store. The app also gives to 0 information about what you are ordering, no description or anything, you either have to know what you want already, or bounce back and forth from the website to the app. Of the 4 orders I have picked up, only 1 was on time.
Price. Considering all the downfalls, the low quality and bad service does not justify the high prices.
Overall this wasn't just a bad experience, it's constiant bad service and low quailty. If this place doesn't make some major changes it won't last once people are past the "excitement" of a new store. No one wants to spend $6.50 on toast they have to throw out, or $9 on juice they can't drink.
Photo 1 Non spicy toast, looks good but its burned. Photo 2 Spicy toast, literally DRENCHED in hot sauce, had to throw out. Photo 3 Spicy toast, normal amount of sauce but COVERED in hemp seeds. Too nasty to eat,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in this evening to break my fast during Ramadan. I went into the restaurant around 7pm and ordered my usual. When I placed my order, the young lady at the register charged me extra and when I noticed I informed her she charged me an extra $7.99 for onion rings when that is not what I asked for and she fixed it.
I placed my order to stay and sat at a table next to another group of women. At the time I was the only black person dining in, shortly after I put my order in two caucasian women walked in and sat to dine in as well. The young lady brought my drink and then walked away. After sitting and waiting for a half hour, I looked over at the two white women who walked in after me and noticed that one of them was eating the exact same meal that I ordered. I went back up to the counter and told the young woman that I've been waiting for a half hour to receive my meal and it seemed like she gave the table who came in after me my order. The young lady stated that she gave the woman my order by a mistake, however no one ever informed me of the mistake... they just left me sitting there waiting and wondering.
Everyone else that was seated was eating their meals while I sat patiently waiting for my food to be brought out to me, mind you I am fasting for Ramadan. I told the young lady my situation and asked if there was anyway that I can be accomodated for this mistake and she said that all they can do is have the order made over for me, which would've meant that I would be waiting for another 15-25 minutes for food that I ordered at 7pm.
I asked if there was a manager available and tried to talk to the other female staff who was completely dismissive towards me and had her back towards me the whole time while I was trying to speak with her and while she was speaking to me.
After all of this I just asked to be refunded my money and stated that I no longer wanted the meal due to the unprofessionalism and what seems to have been discrimination of some sort. I come here all of the time, so to be treated in this manner was despicable to me. I also came from a far distance to dine here this evening as I do all of the time, so this trip to the restaurant was a waste of my time, gas and I had to dine elsewhere to break my fast.
BLACK PEOPLE please pour your dollars back into black-owned businesses. Experiences like this make me regret ever supporting this business. An accomodation could've been as simple as providing me with an extra drink and they couldn't even offer to do that.
DO BETTER! Customer services needs improvement and the workers here need...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy partner and I order here regularly, and love the food. its more common than not for something to be wrong on our order, like missing an ingredient we added on but we chalk it up to the place being run by teenagers and the like and don't want to make waves. We usually get the cheezesteak and on the ordering portal it says ketchup on the side, and on their menu in person it doesn't even mention ketchup and we always order as is. My partner cant have ketchup and I don't want it on the sandwich so we always have been fine with ordering this way. A few days ago we ordered two as is and after waiting for it to be done, driving 20 minutes there and back, we open the sandwiches only to find ketchup in both of them. So I, like a normal customer, call Daily veg only to have one kid pass me off to their head cook, who tells me his ticket tells him to add ketchup on the sandwich ( it doesn't because its made correctly the other 10 times we got it and the ticket doesnt mention ketchup on it as I look at it) so I just ask for a refund for the food since we dont want to eat it at this point, hot ketchup....no thank you personal preference. Food goes in the trash and pics taken incase they want proof. They owned up to it being made wrong and apologized, but then I was told they dont refund food once its left the store (so am I supposed to check the food for errors before I leave???) I have been in the industry for over a decade, and I literally have never heard of this before. No offer to remake the food correctly. I asked for the managers name, no manager, so they wrote down my name and said the owner Mike would call me to resolve. about 5 days later and still no call. Daily Veg, you have no business hiring "teenagers working their first job" who will and do mess up overpriced sandwiches and then have the audacity to not make it right with your customers. We get it, you own a franchise and care about the money, profit margins and all that. Cant have teenagers making mistakes with the stores money can we (just the customers money). But maybe try to fake it a little better or give your staff the tools to correct the mistakes they make? Or pay a living wage to hire adults who can properly run a store. $32+ literally held...
