We were greeted by a very unfriendly hostess who acted as if she'd prefer we just walked out the door. Mind you we went at 12:30 on a Saturday and they weren't even busy. All parties seemed confused when I asked about allergens/gluten. Then a manager brought me the allergen list and explain that they can't guarantee any cross-contamination (which is fair and well know). Every time I'd ask the server a question she'd get a manager to come over. All the managers just wanted to make me a very plain meal without seasoning or sauce, despite gluten-sensitive options that are already informed gluten sensitive so if they were taking the same precautions as they were with the plain meal it should have been fine. Our server, bless her was sweet, but not very with it and didn't check on us after taking or order until our food arrive (which was almost an hour later!). We ordered an appetizer that never came, two salads and an entree. The salads we'd hope would come out before the food came out with the meal. My Ceaser salad was drenched in so much dressing it was sickening. You could probably fill up two dipping containers with it. The food was just okay, but we ate it because by the time it came we were super hungry. We were actually getting ready to leave and tell them to cancel the order when the food finally came. I got a little sick but I am not sure if it was from gluten or just the overall greasy quality of the food and overload of dressing when I didn't even eat the whole salad. I wish I could give an alternate gluten-free suggestion for those that are traveling in Pikeville, but unfortunately I was only there for one day and this was my experience.
Pros: If there is a scene that caters to gluten-free needs in Pikeville, KY it is hiding well. Chain established "gluten-sensitive" items. Staff seems to care about not wanting you to get sick.
Cons: Staff not at all knowledgeable about gluten items/options. The service...
Read moreAte at applebees last week. Less than impressed. My family was seated by the hostess a waitress walked by 7 times to other tables and didn't stop by at all. 15 minutes pass by and we had to stop the same waitress and she said she didn't even know we was there all though she walked past us 7 times asking the tables next to us if they needed anything else. 2 people were seated after we were and they got their drinks within a minute or two of being seated and they got their drinks and appetizers before anyone even stopped at our table. . 20 minutes had finally passed and we got our drinks we ordered and got our food not long after that but the waitress handed us off to another waitress because I complained that we had been waiting 20 minutes before we got our drink order taken.. to beat it all, there was only seven tables being used in the entire restaurant so they were not that busy. At the end of our meal, the owner ended up comping everything we ordered. Needless to say, I won't be going back...
Read moreOn Friday Oct. 16 my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter and I went to Pikeville Applebee’s to have dinner, she went in to put her name down for a table. They sent a text in about 15 minutes, we went in and then were told they had given our table to someone else. One of the people that worked there was going to give us another table but was told by the hostess that they could not do that. The hostess said we would have to wait another 15 or 20 minutes to get a table. She also said we would have to wait outside. It was about 40 degrees outside. We stayed out a few minutes and I then went back in to see how much longer it would be. I told her “I am 67 and I could not stand out in the cold like that and we had the baby with us and she was getting cold . They had no idea how long it would be they were waiting on a table to get free and the people had not even ordered yet. I just told them we were leaving and the hostess just said OK. I just don’t the people should be...
