It's 6:15pm and we're hungry, so we decide to stop by the Wind River Brewing Company for dinner.
The six of us (plus a baby) walk in the door and are immediately greeted by a line of people. "Is this the line to put our names in?" we ask. We were informed otherwise. You see, at this restaurant they don't write down your name and then call you when your table is ready. Instead, you must stand in line and wait. Strange, but not a deal breaker.
After waiting 20 minutes (not a bad wait!) we were informed there is a table for 4 ready, and asked if we wanted to try to squeeze in. We are hungry, and we're planning on eating finger food, so we decide "sure, why not!" Well, here is why not... In short order, we were led to a table for four. There are four chairs. We make a joke about two of us (and the baby) squatting down, or standing and eating. The waitress laughs and walks away. Wait, hold up, she walked away? And didn't bring more chairs? Yes, she walked away.
That is how another waitress found us standing awkwardly around our table a minute later. Then we were informed that no, six people (and a baby) are in fact not allowed to squeeze into a table for four. Conveniently, the table next to this opens up. Perfect! We can push the two tables together, and all will be fine. Nope! We were led back to our place in line.
Okay, whatever. The restaurant is allowed to have its own seating policy. We watch as two parties of 4 behind us in line are seated, wait 15 more minutes, and are seated at a roomy table for 8.
We're still in good spirits. Sure, our experience so far was odd, but we've been seated and are hungry and ready to order. 5 minutes pass. Then 10. 15. At 7:05, a waitress comes by to bring us waters. We request to order right then. "Can I get a burger with avocado and fries?" "I'm sorry, did the hostess (remember the awkward seating style, there was no hostess...) not tell you? We are out of avocado. And fries. And sweet potato fries. And several of the burgers."
Okay, that's frustrating. Most of us now need to change our orders, and for sides, we have a choice between chips and salsa (with a burger? Ew...) and a salad. We grudgingly order our new burgers and salads.
The waters and beers come. The beers are good, spirits are high again. After 15 minutes, we are starting to get antsy. 20 minutes, getting hungry, hopefully it's almost done. 30 minutes, okay, this is getting rediculous. After 35 minutes (it is now 7:40), we are informed that they have run out of salad. Umm....
Okay, well we don't want chips and salsa. We ask "can you bring us out something else in place of our sides? Maybe some soup or nachos (because cheese is of course better than salsa)?" Of course not! They have run out of soup and they don't serve nachos. Okay, we'll take the chips and salsa. At this point, we just want to eat something.
5 more minutes. No waiter. 10 minutes. Nothing. It is now 7:50, we've been at the restaurant for over an hour and a half and no food. And even if the food came, it won't be the food we wanted anyway. We look around. Not many happy customers in the place. Someone suggests what is on all our minds. Do we walk? There is a Subway right down the road....
At 8:00 we finally decide that if we don't have our food by 8:10, we are leaving. The food on other tables actually looks decent. It could still be worth it. Maybe they're just having a bad service night but the food will be good? Anyway, we've already invested almost 2 hours into this.
We call over the waitress and inform her how absolutely rediculous this is. We demand chips and salsa (we are hungry and just want to put something in our mouths!) and declare that we are leaving in 10 minutes if we don't have our food in front of us.
At 8:10, she walks over with a bowl of chips and 3 of the meals. I've run out of characters in this review. Suffice it to say, our orders were wrong, we didn't care, we paid the bill in full (not worth the arguments), it took them over 20 minutes to process the bill, and left after 8:45. Should've gone to the...
Read moreWhen we passed this place on the way to our hotel I was really excited, it looked like EXACTLY what I needed after a long day on the road.
We were quoted 30 minutes for our party, my little ones were hungry but we decided 30 minutes would be ok at the high end. We played cornhole and had a good time outside, we noticed some larger parties who arrived after us were being called to be seated, but didn't think much of it, after we hit the 30 minute mark, my wife (also very likely to submit a review) went to check on where we were on the list as the young natives were getting restless.
The hostess told my wife "woops, looks like I was wrong, it will be at least another 30 minutes". No ownership of the problem, no apology, no effort made to make it right or rush us to a table when one was available to make up for it, nothing. We would have never waited an hour for dinner with how late it was for the kiddos, but with 30 minutes already invested we stayed.
When we were finally seated, there were open tables everywhere, similar to some other reviews here, we were sat and then... nothing. It was a full 10 minutes before a waitress came by to offer us something to drink. Another 10 minutes passed before she returned again and we were finally able to order. All the while these empty tables sat empty while there were plenty of people still waiting.
I ordered the "WRBC Salad", it was a mediocre salad at best, it was fairly expensive for the portion size (14$ if I recall) and the chicken breast that came with it was a small portion (3 ounces at the most) and also not cut up and it was obvious that it was heated in a microwave and was very chewy. I'd give the salad a 4 on a 10 point scale, but give it a 1 in terms of value.
When our food arrived (not at all at once for a party of 5) one of my kids asked for ranch, the waitress brought it and upon seeing her with it, my other son remembered he wanted ranch, no big deal right? The waitress made a snotty remark and if looks could kill my son would have dropped dead when he asked for ranch for himself. One would have thought nearly 2 hours at their establishment before getting food would have earned someone a trip for ranch...
All in all, so disappointed, the wait staff rude, the hostess not managing things at all, or sympathetic to her own mistake. The food was ok, not great but very overpriced.
As someone else mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised to see this place on a future episode of kitchen nightmares or some restaurant turn-around show, they have a great location, a very nice looking building and are in a cool town, but sadly they fall short in every single category.
I don't review restaurants often and honestly when travelling usually my expectations are lower as I know I can't always expect world class service in smaller towns with busy places and lots of tourists and seasonal traffic, but even giving them the huge benefit of the doubt, WRBC was just...
Read moreI love this place, my partner and I visit whenever I come down. 9/10 food items are amazing, most of the servers are absolutely sweet and attentive, atmosphere is homey and comfortable, all around a delicious and wonderful spot, my one and only issue is one server.
I believe her name is Debbie? She's the older one with an attitude who is constantly in the bar, either being loud and drunk or ignoring tables. She greeted us but was glaring at my partner and ignored me, hand on hip, then she got huffy and said Drinks? When we didn't know what she was silently standing there for. She rung in my food wrong when I asked for a medium rare burger and LTOP, and never visited our table again until we brought Patrick over to give a tip to our food runner, who at that point was the only one asking how our food was, refilling our drinks, doing the servers job (she had long dyed red hair in a claw clip, looked about highschool age? She was awesome, took care of all our servers tables too) Then Debbie remembered us when we were talking to Patrick and was suddenly nice asking how our food was, the food that was pretty much done at that point. It wasn't a super busy day, but she was also acting that way toward other tables too. Honestly it made me uncomfortable how rude she was to my partner, every experience here has been great except that one. I want people to come here more because it's great so her acting like that toward potential new customers is sad. I consider the servers here acquaintances and tip them as such so I'll be making sure to never have Debbie again, although from the way she was acting I don't think she would want us either. Servers can have bad days, but I've never seen her...
