Just writing to say thank you to your employee Amber and also Austin for great help and service they gave me while shopping for trail/running shoes.
First let me say I hate shopping for shoes. I need a pair with wide toes and some other features and never get any genuine help from sales people. I believe basically because they have no knowledge of the products they sell.
Not so with Amber who listened to my needs and asked questions. She had really great knowledge about her products. She brought a variety of types out that she believed would work for me and explained the advantages and disadvantages of each. She knew a lot about hiking/running footwear.
While I tried on shoes and walked around the store, Austin offered me some good observations he noticed in my feet while walking, how the shoes fit, and a great point about a foot's physiology while wearing shoes over a period of time.
I have never had this type of experience in a shoe store/shoe department. Neither Amber or Austin tired to 'just sell me something' but cared about finding what I needed. They knew their products and knew the outdoors.(Amber even showed me a new way to lace my shoes that I have never seen before).
I was able to make an educated decision and purchase a great shoe. It was a pleasure shopping at Great Outdoor Shop.
Once again, thanks to Amber and Austin. They are real...
Read moreThe owner blows me away as I discovered he is more about helping someone out than to try and make a dollar. First visit I bought a year fishing license and was told by the two very attentive guys working the store to walk to the other store 100 feet away to get information about fishing the area as the owner knew much more than they did. I was given very detailed information, even opened up a new map to show me exactly where to go and how to get there....WITHOUT HAVING TO PURCHASE ANYTHING!! Took his advice and had great fishing for 5 days. Needed to replace a lure that was kicking butt for me, sadly he didn't carry it. Rather than TRY to sell me something he had, he told me to go to ACE as they likely would have it. And they did. Sadly though, I found the help at the Pinedale Ace to be jerks. NOT IMPRESSED. If ever I pass through here again I will at least buy a new fishing rod (we can all use a new rod right??) for the amazing experiences I got to have simply because I went into this store. What he does have, is good stuff and fair prices. AMAZING fly selection and quality of them. I wish I could do more for you than just leave a decent review. But I promise, if I stop in ever again I will be buying a new rod! Thanks sooooooo much for being the kind of person that is all about helping others, even if I only buy a fishing license from you. I'M...
Read moreRented some gear for a backpacking trip. We called in advance, and asked to reserve gear for our trip. We were told on the phone that reservations wouldn’t be necessary, and if they didn’t have an item for rental they’d pull it off the shelf and rent it, but this was not true. We couldn’t rent bear mace, a two man tent, or an ursack. Ended up buying a can of bear mace and an ursack, and sleeping in a 3 man tent instead. If we’d known this we would’ve rented our gear in Jackson. Broken promise aside, the gear we rented was in good condition and fit for our hike. However, we had to pay for three days rental to rent gear late afternoon the night before our hike. Didn’t really have a choice there. Staff were also pretty uninterested in any sort of customer service, cared more about having conversations amongst themselves. Overall, good gear, but poor communication and...
