Last dinner in Pinehurst! #restaurantreview #pinehurstnc #thecarolinadiningroom

Hi - great atmosphere for breakfast and dinner, and the staff are extremely nice when we entered, friendly serving staff including the team that served us water and coffee - they provide friendly and efficient service. For breakfast - a lot of fresh options, about 3 aisles of them to select from. I understand a buffet the food is prepared in advance but as far as buffets go. this is ok. Dishes included scrambled eggs (probably cooked too long), different meats, pancakes, hash browns etc, and also, from yogurt, fruits , breads, muffins, and freshly made to order omlettes. Dinner was just ok - I had the braised short rib and found it could have benefitted from a longer cooking time to heat it up more, and the portion was sufficient (not too filling) but think it should have been 2 pieces of braised short rib (not just 1). I had the key lime pie and I am a key lime pie conessieur - so my comments are probably excessive! So this pie looked great, but the taste was below average - sorry to say. It lacked some 'tartness' and the crust was too hard and thick. When I say hard it was too thick I had to use a lot of force to break off a piece as pie crust should not be that difficult to break but I think it was because it had to be thick on the edge, to hold up the meringue. (too much theatrics and not enough effort on the flavour)

They have buffet style and omelette bar with everything you can imagine for breakfast. Food was delicious and the waitress was really great; very accommodating. Average paying $35 per a person. As I was leaving, there was a pianist playing.

Absolute waste of time and money. As if the constant drunken banter from a group of red-faced mid 40 year old single dads wasn’t bad enough, the food came out cold and overcooked, not what we were expecting from a world class golf resort. We ordered the chicken wings that came flat out cold with shriveled up green onions like it sat there for days. Their burger was terrible, bacon hard as wood and lettuce soft as one of the bantering dad’s sausage. The staff looked like they had better things to do than their job, which is probably not true considering there is nothing to do in that town after golf ends...

My wife and I economize so we can occasionally go to a fine dining establishment. I would recommend that everyone at least once do the same thing and visit the Carolina Room. We went on our anniversary and the food was sublime. The chefs are clearly inspired and passionate and have some incredible sides to go with just masterfully done proteins that are clearly of the best quality. The wait staff is amazing and helpful to a couple of foodies who asked some unusual questions. The ambience is everything you would expect and more. I can not recommend the Carolina...
