If you’re in the Pinellas area and craving a steaming bowl of Bun Bo Hue (BBH), this is the spot! Hands down the best BBH in town, a hidden gem that deserves way more love.
The BBH comes loaded with everything you’d hope for: tender noodles, hearty cuts of meat, silky pork blood, fresh veggies, and rich pig hocks. The broth is the real star, bursting with deep, layered flavors that come together beautifully. It’s the kind of soup that feels perfect in any weather. You can spice it up with saté for extra heat or add shrimp paste for more savory punch but I recommend trying it as is first. The balance is just right, especially if you prefer a gentler kick of spice.
My second favorite? The rice combo platter. The pork flank was unbelievably tender, smoky, and infused with flavor. The sauce had a subtle sweetness that paired perfectly with the side of tangy fish sauce. Mix the fish sauce into the rice with the eggs, shredded pork skin, and egg meatloaf, and you’ve got a bite that tastes like pure comfort like being transported straight to Vietnam. And unlike many places, their pork cut is thick, juicy, and never dry.
To drink, the Vietnamese lemon limeade is a summer dream, bright, refreshing, and the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The Vietnamese iced tea is another must, crisp and refreshing, especially if you like your tea unsweetened.
Service was a little slow and there was a small mix-up with our order, but it felt more like a simple miscommunication than anything serious. The food more than makes up for it.
✨ Highly recommend this spot if you want authentic Vietnamese...
Read moreThis is authenticity at it's best. Saw a video from a foody on IG. The craze was about the pronunciation of the name of the establishment. I could care less I came for the food! Hubby and I saw the IG post and impromptuly visited for a late lunch yesterday. We came in and was greeted by Chad and seated ourselves. Not many people there but our food and everyone else waiting took a bit to arrive. However, that was water under the bridge once I tasted it. I had the shrimp spring rolls and hubby had the pork. Freshly handmade and the FRESH basil and lemongrass made it so tasteful with the peanut sauce on the side. My husband had one of the meat pho. The size of bowl is intimidating the portion was graciously bountiful and not even the large size. I had the vermicelli with grilled chicken more fresh mint like a cucumber salad with this interesting light sweet and spicy sauce. Hubby had their homemade lemonade which was syrupy sweet. My husband didn't like it as he also said it tasted like salt. It was extra sweet and probably could make 5 decent lemonades. I want more of everything on that menu so obviously we will be back. If you are in a rush or do not care to wait for fresh AND good food this is not the place for your. If I had to say anything bad the stained ceiling tiles and one missing was a turn off. I never got a refill on my water or even asked if I wanted more. But hey if I wanted more I could've asked...
Read moreI was traveling for business and excited to try this place—and it did not disappoint. This is hands-down one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. Everything is made fresh to order, so the flavors are incredibly vibrant. The menu is extensive, and I genuinely wish I had more time to try everything.
I had the Pho Rau Cai (vegetable pho), and the staff offered to add tofu, which was thoughtful and delicious. The broth was so rich and flavorful I barely needed any of the usual sauces. The toppings and vegetables were incredibly fresh, and the portion size was generous—enough for two meals.
The grilled pork dishes (bun thit nuong and com thit nuong) were absolutely incredible, with unmatched flavor and tenderness. Their pork skin rolls and homemade chili sauce are standouts, too.
Service was consistently excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. This is clearly a family-owned spot, and it shows in both the food and the warmth of the staff. Without a doubt, some of the best Vietnamese food in the Tampa/St. Pete area....
