A Tale of Two Eggs: Eggs Benedict vs. Meat Lover's Omelette
This morning's breakfast was a battle of the eggs! My lady opted for a classic Eggs Benedict, and I went for the more robust Meat Lover's Omelette.
The Eggs Benedict:
Canadian Captain: The perfectly poached eggs were the star of the show. The yolks were runny and golden, begging to be cut into and ooze over the Canadian bacon and toasted English muffin.
Hollandaise Hero (or Villain?): The hollandaise sauce was a bit of a mixed bag. It was creamy and rich but perhaps a touch too heavy. A lighter hand on the butter might have allowed the other flavors to shine.
Supporting Cast: The toasted English muffin provided a sturdy base, and the side of crispy home fries was a welcome addition.
The Meat Lover's Omelette:
A Sausage Symphony: This omelet was a carnivore's dream. It bulged with various breakfast meats - sausage, bacon, and ham - all cooked to a satisfying crispness.
Cheese Champion: A generous amount of melted cheddar cheese bound everything together, adding a salty richness to each bite.
Veggie Ventriloquist: Sadly, the veggies were a bit of an afterthought. A few slivers of green pepper and onion were lost in the sea of meat and cheese.
The Verdict:
Both dishes were hearty and satisfying but ultimately catered to different palates. The Eggs Benedict was a luxurious and decadent choice, while the Meat Lover's Omelette was a powerful punch of protein and flavor.
For the Finesse Seeker: Go for the Eggs Benedict. Just be prepared to potentially ask for the hollandaise on the side if you prefer a lighter touch.
For the Meat Maestro: The Meat Lover's Omelette won't disappoint. Just be aware that the veggies might play a supporting role to the star of the show - the meat.
Personally, I'd love to see a version of the Eggs Benedict with a bit lighter hollandaise, and the Meat Lover's Omelette could benefit from some heartier veggies like mushrooms or peppers. But overall, a delicious...
Read moreWe met friends here for brunch before seeing a movie. It was busy as it's a small place, but it took much longer than it should have to even place our drink order. It's also pretty dark in there but it was decorated nicely. My son liked his burger and fries but he didn't finish them as he usually does so I don't think he liked it as much as he said he did. My home fries were burned and not even warm. The vegetarian omlette was good but it wasn't hot and the cheese hadn't even melted on the inside. I was upcharged $1 for getting a biscuit even though the menu said they are the same price as the toast that comes with my meal, so that rubbed me the wrong way for sure and I was told a ridiculous excuse for why they are the same price yet I'm being charged more for a biscuit. That being said I did like the biscuit and I got a small side of sausage gravy that was really good. I don't think we will come back based off this 1st impression, but the sausage gravy and biscuit are something I would recommend if you are dead set on going here.
Oh yeah, the are also dog friendly ON THE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING.... I have a huge dog and I would NEVER expect her to be welcome in a...
