We were looking forward to getting out of the house and treating ourselves to a delicious ice cream snack one evening. We arrived at the Twistee Treat in Pinellas Park at 9:54 pm with the closing time stated to be 10:00 pm. At the time, there was just one vehicle ahead of us, which was at the service window the moment we arrived. Having our order ready, we proceed to wait behind this vehicle for roughly five minutes.
After the vehicle finally left, we patiently waited to be served at the window. Roughly four minutes later, at 10:03 pm, an individual finally opens the window. Expecting to be served, we instead get turned away, being told that "the cash register is closed already". When questioning why the cash register was closed several minutes before the stated closing time, the employee didn't seem to have a rational response and impolitely shut the window. What made it worse is that the employee told us that she had recognized that we were sitting there before 10:00 pm, saying that because it was moments before the stated closing time, we wouldn't be served. It took us 15 minutes to get there and another 15 minutes to get back home, empty-handed.

Read moreWe came in a group of 4 for banana splits. Two of the orders were without nuts, one came with nuts. This could be health hazard for some people. More care should be taken. On another one, they forgot the strawberries and pineapple. So basically a hit fudge Sunday. When our guests from out of town was halfway through with her meal, she found a short black hair in her banana split. Obviously everyone stopped eating at that point. After (admittedly rudely) pointed this out, I was told it was a piece of banana. I'm not sure which part of the banana black hairs come from, but I've never seen this in 45yrs of eating bananas. So I'm not an expert, but I can tell the difference between a human hair and part of a fruit. Needless to say, my prior review of praise have changed because working in that industry for years, The customer is right and food replaced or refunded. That's how you retain regular clientele and that's how to treat a customer. I would have politely declined the offer and wouldn't be writing this review. It was the being treated as a dissatisfied, valued customer. You know the Mainland's is a rumor mill and things like this get a lot of...
Read moreWe arrived 20mins prior to closing and were told that Twistee Treat Pinellas Park does not serve individuals on motorcycles!! Having discovered that the walk up window was closed due to minimum staffing, and that only the drive thru' was open, we proceeded to walk to the drive through and place our order there. After getting no response, we went to the pick-up window only to find no-one to help us. Eventually, an employee by the name of Mia came to the window and told us that we needed to be on our bikes when ordering as it was too dangerous to be walking in the drive through area. Good safety point, I thought. Without complaint, we mounted our bikes and re-entered the drive through. After a few minutes of no response at all, Mia came to the microphone and told our last rider (a retired police officer) that, "We don't serve motorcycles".
As a group we have experienced excellent customer service at other Twistees in the area, but this was an appalling case of discrimination from this location. We had ridden quite some way to buy ice cream, only to have our wishes dashed by a group of adolescents who were clearly enjoying our misfortune. ...
