I've rated one star, not out of spite to bring down an average, because honestly you have so many great reviews, I know mine will likely not make too much of an impact. I've rated one star because my experience (explained below) was not a good one, because I'd like to pass along information to others considering dining with you during Oktoberfest, and because there is no option for N/A.

I was so excited to take my husband (of German ancestry) to a German restaurant for our 4th anniversary. It would be a welcome break from our 6-month-old and a special night to spend time together. Waldhorn has many great reviews and the price was definitely in our range. It would be a bit of a drive, but we knew it would be worth it.

I called in advance to ask to make a reservation but was told that a primary reason I chose the Waldhorn would also preclude any ability to make a reservation: Oktoberfest. I was told not to worry by the nice young man on the phone, however, and just to arrive a few minutes before the doors opened at 5:00 and we would likely be seated immediately. With this information, I went ahead and arranged a sitter and purchased tickets for a 6:15 hockey game. When we arrived at 4:55 and spoke to the hostess, she informed us it would be a 45 minute wait and on her list I saw a number of reservations who had already been seated. I didn't say anything to her about the misinformation because I knew that anything I said in that moment wouldn't be polite, and it certainly wasn't her fault I would need to make on the fly arrangements for an an anniversary dinner date I'd been planning and looking forward to for a month. (Hell, I even looked up the menu and picked out my entree, appetizer, wine and possible dessert ahead so we wouldn't be a bother on such a busy night!) I was very disappointed and given the time constraint couldn't wait the 45 minutes for a table so we left resigned to getting bratwurst and Bavarian pretzels from the cart at the hockey game as our anniversary meal. I would strongly encourage the management to be more transparent about table availability during Oktoberfest. As someone who worked in tourism for most of my adolescence, I hate the cliche of "you've ruined my night/vacation/etc;" yet, in this instance, I feel it appropriate. I'm sure your food is wonderful, but I can't say I'll ever be able to bring myself to make the trip down...

Server was attentive and kind. The place was buzzing inside and a group waiting to be seated. This was on a Monday evening. I had the waldhorn salad so so that I can sample the German potato salad and the other sides and also enjoy a simple mixed green salad with house vinegret. The main entree was Jager schnitzel which was two flattened pork fillets that were breaded with brown sauce with mushrooms and a side of purple cabbage that had an apple taste. I think they put apples in it but it was delicious, especially as a compliment to the pork fillets. I also had a side of German style noodles that come with the entree. They looked and seem to be housemate. The entire plate complimented each other and I was very satisfied with the meal I was stuffed, but I couldn't resist the urge to ask about desserts which were on special along with some menu item desserts. I went for the special which was carrot cake and cheesecake for this particular night, both of which were in-house scratch baked. The carrot cake was absolutely divine. It was moist just the right amount of sweetness and the cream cheese frosting was a great compliment. Hat off to all the chefs in the house. I wanted to give compliments to the owner of the restaurant which was walking around in the house which is rare to see. Thank you for the great service and the great food. I'll...

This was my family‘s third visit to this establishment and we have been pleased every time we have been here. We live in Florida, but have relatives that live up near this restaurant and I make it a point to go there every time. The restaurant is kept immaculately clean. The food is superb and the weight staff was top-notch. We set a reservation for 745 P.m. and this is one of the few restaurants that I have gone to that get you into your seats on or before your reservation time as we arrived a little bit early. My family and I ordered the giant pretzel, the sausage sampler potato pancakes, the stuffed schnitzel, the salmon, the Caesar salad, the gürmese pasta and the waldhorn sampler. The appetizers came out fast and were all delicious and fresh made. The main courses were exactly how I remembered them each time. I came back, very consistent on the flavors and cooking and reminded me of when I was in Germany. I guess if I had to nitpick there was 2 things 1 is I remember getting a basket of rolls/bread which was not offered this time (idea) if this option was removed due to expense add it as a $5 paid for basket as my family loves bread and 2nd is I wish that the waitstaff was dressed in more of an older style authentic German uniform versus just wearing whatever but i’m sure those types of clothing are getting harder to find.

We made it a recent tradition to eat here for our anniversary whenever we are nearby. We drove an hour to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary Friday and had such a lovely evening. Our waiter, who was a young college student, was great and he brought us a candle, per our request, for us to celebrate our day. <3 ^.^ Thank you! As for the food. AMAZING. You can’t come here and NOT get the sausage platter along with their pretzel rolls. Since we had the sausage appetizer, I tried their vegetarian plate while my husband got another sausage plate haha. Both were delicious! The Black Forest cake is our favorite cake ever and their grapefruit beer is wonderful. I do not like beer and even I thought it was very nice and refreshing. (If you like very very sweet desserts, you will not like the black Forrest cake. We specifically LOVE it because it’s light, fluffy and just delicious without the extra sugar that most places have. They have other desserts that may be more appealing if it’s not your style^.^)I’m going to try to bake one myself, but I know it’ll never compare to this restaurant 🤣 wish me luck! I was introduced to this place during a trip with my HS class. Who would’ve thought I’d come here with my future husband too?! ☺️ LOVE IT
