Not sure where to start, but here goes.. My wife and I ordered a custom leather sofa and loveseat back Mid-2020 at the Haverty's Pineville, NC location. The sales rep was very helpful with selecting what we wanted and getting the process going for us. We understood that the time to make and deliver the sofa would be between 8-10 weeks, which we were fine with. We financed just short of $8,000 for the custom leather sofa and loveseat thru Synchrony Financial.
Here is where is gets hairy.. We have been paying on the items since October 2020, when the original sofa and loveseat were actually delivered. When the original sofa and loveseat arrived the love seat was in new condition however the sofa had one of the two arms badly damaged in route to us. We notified Haverty's of the damage with info and photos, and they informed us they would send a furniture repair guy to attempt to repair the sofa. That person came and was unable to fix, and he signaled Haverty's that it would need to be replaced. So we wait another 8-10 weeks for another sofa to be made and scheduled for delivery. This second delivery attempt was scheduled for last Wednesday from 8a - 12p. I notified the scheduler that there was a short window of time within this 4 hour window that I wouldn't be able to get to the front door due to a immovable work obligation. The scheduler informed me that wouldn't be a problem, and that she added it to the notes for the drivers. Of course they came during that window, and they were unable to complete this second delivery attempt. I was told to call back the next day to reschedule again, which I did the next morning.
Fast forward to now.. it was rescheduled for yesterday between 3p-5p. The delivery driver called shortly after 1pm to see if I could accept the delivery early, which I accepted. They arrived around 1:30p and came inside to see the path to get the damaged sofa out and new sofa in. We even moved the furniture around in the living room in preparation for the swap. I had landscapers working on a sidewalk down the side of my home, and their trucks were parked in the street. Due to that, the delivery driver and I identified where they could park their truck to unload which was appx 75 feet from my front door. The driver went back tot he truck to gameplan with his helper. I went ahead and opened the double front door to make the path as large as possible for the guys. What happened next was the biggest shocker! They got back in their truck and drove away. I thought they were going down the street to turn around. Nope, they just left! I was stunned. Called back today and was told I would need to reschedule for next week. It is scheduled for next Wednesday for the 4th delivery attempt... I simply...
Read moreRecently purchased a sofa and chair at Haverty’s. Our first trip in to the showroom was not great. It was about an hour before closing (only time we can go due to our work hours). We knew specifically what we were looking for and repeated it numerous times to the sales person,, only to have them show us everything but what we were looking for.
They seemed to be focused more on making sure we would go out of our way for them to get the commission. They spoke more to us about ways to be sure they got their commission, then about our wants/needs. To top it off, right before closing we were ready to make our purchase. Just needed a small chair moved near our sofa, to make sure it matched. The salesperson said it couldn’t be done and we’re told we would have to come back. They claimed that everyone had left so there was nobody available to move the chair. However, we saw the other sales person (large male) walking around the floor. It was obvious our sales person did not want to do the work in making the sale, but was hoping we’d come back the next day when she was not there. This way, someone else could do the work, but she would get the commission. So we left and was actually walked to the door by the other salesperson that was supposedly not there (large male).
We ended up coming back the next day to have the chair moved and confirm it matched and place our order. We were greeted by Scot (with one “t”). Upon greeting us, he was very helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He listened to our needs and went out of his way to look things up to be sure the configuration would fit in the room and provided his professional feedback where needed. He even moved the chair over to the sofa that we had asked to be moved at our previous visit, without hesitation.
At this point, it was closing time again. He had no issue staying to write up the sale, which he did very quickly and efficiently. He remained professional and helpful until the end (never making us feel rushed or bad that it was a little after closing). He made our shopping experience, smooth and effortless. We love the fact that with Haverty’s, we have a few days to be sure we like the furniture once it is delivered and have the option to return it (minus delivery fee), unlike some other places. So with that said, we had an outstanding second visit to Haverty’s with Scot (with one “t”). Looking forward to receiving our new furniture!
If you’re looking for furniture, I highly suggest Scot (with one “t”)...
Read moreThe Pineville NC Haverty's store is the absolute best when it comes to customer service, quality and price as compared to its surrounding competitors (Goodes Stickley, Rooms to Go, Ashley, Tyndall etc.). Sales staff are helpful and NOT pushy by any means (Char, Scott, Gerel are all staff we've worked with in the past 3 years) and we've bought a LOT of furniture from this location.
The store Manager - Derek - is also top notch. We had a problem with some counter stools purchased over 2.5 years ago where the fabric literally shredded - and no worries as Haverty's no longer carries this line) and thought we'd be covered under the "Guardsman" Protection plan. We were not, but rather than simply shrub his shoulders and say "Oh Well" Derek stepped up, gave us a credit for what we paid and had us pick out new stools. I can't speak for any of their competitors or if they would have done the same, but from our perspective, this was a HUGE accommodation on Derek's part.
But folks, the good news does not stop at the store. Deliveries are scheduled on time and the delivery staff are super polite, courteous and are spotless in their delivery process. Not a spec of cardboard or other packing debris is ever left at your home.
You can probably spend less for a lower quality piece of furniture elsewhere which may last a few years - or buy from Haverty's and know they stand behind their products and are built to last for generations to come. I'd definitely recommend you go to Havery's - be it first or last - definitely go. I doubt you will be disappointed.
I will add one last comment - we have family moving to the NC/SC area soon and one family member has a compromised immune system due to a battle with cancer. As such avoiding crowds during Covid is an absolute. In speaking with the staff at the Pineville store, when they get here they will make a special provision to bring her in before the store is open so she may shop entirely by herself. I don't know if they do this regularly or not, but it's the first time I've ever heard of any store being this accommodating. As such we are clients for life as well as looking to be "super salesmen" for them - despite not working for them or receiving any form of compensation for...
