The one-flat-price-customizable pizza places are on the rise, no pun intended. MOD Pizza is the nearest customizable pizza place around the Richmond/Pinole area other than another customizable pizza place in Berkeley, Concord, and Fairfield.
I've been to this place twice and from both times the people have been very friendly. I have ordered the MOD and the mega pizza. The mega pizza is basically a double crust with cheese between the crusts. For a normal MOD pizza (whether you decide to order a certain type they have created or not) it cost $8/9 for unlimited toppings. The mega was $10 for the same unlimited amount of toppings.
MOD does have an array of toppings but not as much as other places I've been to and some (not all) of their ingredients tasted almost generic. I can say their veggies taste fresh and as for their meats it taste like other generic meats I've tried. If anything I recommend getting the regular MOD pizza and go crazy with your hearts desire. It's also one type of crust which is thin crust and it's cooked in a pizza oven so it might take a few minutes to get your pizza; it's a very short wait. The people there are super friendly and their ice teas are refreshing. They also serve beer, so it's a plus to those pizza consumers who need some alcohol with their meal.
MOD Pizza does satisfy pizza lovers' appetites and it can be on the pricey side compared to chain pizza places and their $5 deals. That is why I recommend getting the $8 pizza because you get a good size. Customizable pizzas can be addictive, so beware but really, who can say no to pizza? Happy eating!!
P.S. They do have gluten-free crusts, makes it even better to eat pizza!...
Read moreNot a great experience. Staff did not listen, got order wrong. Got that fixed and they were in such a hurry (although not really busy at all) they started before we were ready, so my pizza had red sauce, even though I didn't want any. They skipped right over the cheese, so we got mozzarella and only mozzarella. Did not explain anything to customers, on how ordering or cooking works or listen when questions were asked. Luckily we have been to a MOD before, so we had a clue. But if this had been our first time, we would never have had a 2nd. As I expect will be the case of other customers. Then when order was done, mine was burnt on one side and they dropped my husband's on the floor. They did apologize, but offered no compensation at all. I wouldn't necessarily have expected anything, but for all the previous issues we had already experienced, and even just a small gesture like a free drink next visit or discount on next order (also increasing chance of return visit) or throw on a side or dessert when they had to remake and cook a new pizza would have shown some customer service and true remorse. It would have made the review positive rather than negative. It would have meant return visits to this location, which...
Read moreI recently visited MOD Pizza in Pinole and had a mixed experience. The highlight of my visit was definitely the service. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure the ordering process was smooth and pleasant.
However, I was disappointed with the food itself. I ordered two mini pizzas and a salad through the app, which was user-friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, for over $40, what I received didn't match my order. The pizzas weren't as expected dough was chewy, and the salad was particularly unsatisfying. The lettuce and veggies were old and soggy, lacking the crisp freshness one would anticipate.
Given the cost, I expected a better value. It felt disheartening to put in the extra effort to request a pizza that I could barely eat—honestly, I would have been better off ordering a Costco pizza.
In summary, while the service and app experience were commendable, the quality of the food fell short of expectations. I cannot recommend the MOD Pizza in Pinole based on this experience. Customers deserve better...
