I have lived in NC for 3 years and have had Great meals and customers service! TODAY MY STREAK ENDED! It was screw up after screw up! The customer service was awful I had a young server that brought me somebody else's breakfast by accident. Not a big deal but she never apologized and could have cared less when we mentioned to her that this was not our food! To make matters worse my fiancé had to eat her breakfast alone due to this mix-up. In order to not make her feel bad eating alone I just started picking at the potatoes but then the owner came over and asked for the wrong meal back so that she could throw it out? The point of that was what? Finally when the meal comes my fiancé's is already done with her meal and visibly disturbed that now I'm eating alone. The meal that came was still missing a couple items but no big deal. The owner who picked up the meal and the young server that might've been her daughter could have cared less that are dining experience turned to garbage. They never ONCE came to check on us once all the screw ups were brought to their attention only a nice lady named Lynn came to check on us. Without question in three years my worst restaurant dining experience in the state of North Carolina steer clear of this place and the sad part about it is once I got the food It was really good but the people spoiled the meal!! Steer Clear of Al's Diner! They want to BE RIGHT not...

OH MY GOD. I have never experienced this kind of service from this place. I love coming to this place. But today was and might be my last time. Initially , I called to place an order. Was yelled at and being told I wasn’t being loud enough and needed to speak louder. So I hung up. Went and got gas , and proceeded to go to Al’s. Got up to the speaker , ordered a grilled chicken BLT and a small water in which came up to 11.05. I always get the same exact thing , if anything with fries for this price along with an actual drink. So I was very very surprised at the price. Once getting up to the window, I asked how much the sandwich was and was told it was 8.95. So I’m guessing I was also charged for the water and the price of the sand which has gone up. So I can only imagine the price it is now , if I would’ve gotten fries. Which I normally do and it’s the same price along with an actual drink ( tea , soda.) After receiving my bag , I asked for a ranch. Never been charged for a ranch , she told me I’d be .25 & I said wow. She proceeds to snatch the $1 I gave her as well as aggressively place the .75 back into my hand. She then said she doesn’t understand why people ask for things and think I’d be free of purchase. I receive the ranch , she closes the window still talking. I am baffled by the service I received today. Such a disappointment because I...

I've been wanting to try Al's for a while and on our way home from another destination we have it a try.

We got seated quickly, but unfortunately just missed the breakfast cut off. Oh, well, there were plenty of choices for lunch so looked it over.

I got a vegetable plate. My choices were baked beans, which didn't seemed baked at all, just warmed up out of a can, boiled cabbage that could have cooked longer since it was still quite hard, a potato casserole that was so-so, and a roll that was just okay. Honestly, the whole place was kind of disappointing.

My spouse had the seafood plate and enjoyed the shrimp and hush puppies, loved the green beans, and thought the cabbage was okay. Suffice to say, she faked better than me.

The demeanor of the wait staff was half and half. Two of them were really nice and pleasant and the other two were pretty grumpy.

The decor was quite with lots of tin signs of food products.

Overall for my food choice was a letdown. Price wise it was good. Too be honest, if I'm in the town again I might give it another try, but S&T is a big draw me for their friendliness, food choices that always hit the mark, and the great ice cream...

Coming back from camping with the family, I wanted to go to a real diner and luck would have it, I found the best one in the middle of nowhere. The food: The country fried steak is amazing. I highly recommend the country fried steak. The gravy was excellent. The potatoes were great but a little on the saltier side. The biscuits were good. The omelet was good. The eggs were my only gripe. 0 seasoning on the eggs. Service: the best way to describe it is "southern hospitality" at its finest. All in all, even though it's 30 miles from my house, I think I'll be coming here once a month haha

All I can say is country cooking at its best. We had the beef tips and onions, It was so good the only thing wrong with them is I didn't have a second batch. Very good country mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken salad is very good especially on their croissant. Their foot long hot dog is the red country hot dog reminds me of my childhood but very good. I'm going to try to get pictures of the food, But after smelling this great food on the way home it doesn't survive that long for picture.

Headed to Raleigh for the day and decided to try something other than a chain restaurant for breakfast. Service was slow and wasn't sure if we were supposed to order up front. Other customers said to stay put. Finally got our order taken, so glad we decided to stay. We had the best omelette we have ever eaten. We will be back for the food, not necessarily the service though.
