I had previously left this place 5 stars but I now have to unfortunately update my review to reflect whatever happened in 2015. Service has gone downhill and food is often out of stock.
The final straw was on Mother's Day, 2015. I can here for the Mother's Day Brunch Buffet. The brunch was available from 10-2 and my reservations were for 1pm. We arrived 5 minutes early and were seated and the food was running out at the brunch buffet by 1:15.
First to disappear was the salad. I asked if more was coming and the waitress informed me that they had run out. I did not find this overly odd as the last few times I came here they were out of multiple items. But, then the shrimp and grits were gone, which was the entire point of our trip. I informed the waitress who said she'd tell the kitchen to get more ready.
Meanwhile, salads are being delivered to other people who had arrived for lunch, so, obviously they were lying about the salad.
Then, the waitress comes back to our table with an awkward look on her face and she says they are out of grits...
We were trying to make the best of the situation but at this point I realize something is going terribly wrong. It is only 1:20 and mothers are just picking at scrambled eggs at this point. This woman is very obviously lying to my face. So I smile and ask if there is something that we can eat instead as we're... Hungry... The waitress leaves and returns in 2 minutes to tell us that they "found" the grits.
5 minutes later shrimp and grits were out. At this point I was hesitant to even eat them but I decide to go grab some. The grits were watery, the shrimp was overcooked and tough, the dish was not seasoned and also lacking all of the ingredients that they normally add.
I was with some friends and didn't want to make a scene so I just paid my bill and got out.
The fee for this "service": 2 adults, 2 children and 1 beer to mom was $63, or $75 w/ tip basically.
On Saturdays they provide free brew tours which are very cool. Their beer is very good and distributed in many local grocery stores. The bar area is fun and they have trivia nights and occasionally live music. I have had the local burger and their nachos many times and left very satisfied.
I really enjoy this place being here but it will be quite a while before I attempt to come here for a meal again. Beer &...
Read moreGot there today at around 12:45, and was told there would be maybe a 10 minute wait, and we were seated at 1. The restaurant was pretty clean, a few tables were left dirty from previous guests, but it wasn't busy at all. A few minutes after we were seated, our waitress came to our table. We asked a few questions, but we didn't get the response or recommendations we were looking for. My husband settled on the BBQ pork sandwich and water, and I got the brewery burger, and asked for 1000 islands on the side with Dr Pepper. After we ordered and got our drinks, we BARELY saw our waitress. We have this theory that if we go to a brewery or bar for food, and we don't order some sort of alcohol, it's as if we become invisible to our server, and it proved to be true here. Our drinks were long gone by the time we got our food. As the server was setting our items down, she noted that they didn't give me a side of 1000 islands and mentioned she'd be back with it. She never came back with it or realized she forgotten it. My burger and fries were barely warm. Started with eating just half, hoping the waitress would return with the 1000 islands but she never did. The fries really seemed like they could have had potential if they were fresh but they were cold and floppy by the time I got them. My husbands BBQ pork sandwich was flavorless, as well as the coleslaw on it. My husband described it as just chopped up lettuce with no seasoning. He paid extra for sweet potato fries. They tasted like they were under a heat lamp for far too long. We noticed a few empty tables had a caddy with BBQ sauces and other condiments, and we took one from a table since our waitress never provided one or offered it, and we were done mostly by the time she stopped by to ask how everything was. They do provide a military discount, which was welcome, and if I didn't dislike confrontation so much I would have said something about the meal but our demeanor should have indicated something wasn't right. At least we got some sort of discount. I don't plan...
Read moreI would like to share a bad experience with this restaurant, in which I had once enjoyed for many years.
My husband and I chose Carolina Brewery for our dinner choice last week, we walk in, it’s full of customers, the atmosphere seemed cheerful, we were hungry, and happy to be there.
The First host a young tall dark haired man approached us to be seated, and noticed I did not have on a face mask but my husband did, he asked about face mask I explained I’m “medical exempted” he look confused and walked away. The second hostess approached and inquired again about a face mask, I stated I’m “medical exempt”. She stated she could not walk us 15 feet to the nearest table to dine with your restaurant without a face mask.
As I looked around to all the customers uncovered faces and the ridiculousness of lack of understanding that our state mandate clearly talks about “medical exemptions” for those folks.
I decided there was no need to continue explaining as my frustration set in, respectfully I made a decision to dine elsewhere, while we walked out the first host “the young man” yelled at me “you should have worn a face mask” very unprofessional, I felt like saying something but I did not, I realized you can’t fight the uneducated and it’s pointless to try.
That confrontational mentality was over the top for me, as it brought unwelcome attention to us that was not needed.
Face mask “medical exemptions” are in place because face masks can cause that person more medical harm, that’s why it’s stated that in state mandate.
We drove over to the Mexican restaurant across from Carolina Brewery with a very friendly staff, with no hassle over face masks, that is where I will spend my hard earned money with companies that show respect, understanding and welcome all customers equally.
Have some of you forgotten how to treat people with respect!?
This face mask issues will go away but what will not go away is the unprofessional behaviors we experienced trying to dine in your...
