A true artesanal bakery , a very good source of crusty breads that have reasonable fibre content. BUT it’s seeming obsession of “European-style”, is farcical and misguided. — There is NO such thing 🫤🫤🫤. — Each European country has unique baking styles and traditions. The self label of European-style” implies * lack of confidence on American products they make; OR * ignorance of European culinary cultures. 🤩 Seeded Multigrain Loaf: Excellent crusty exterior and very soft interior. It’s almost savory, unlike the extremely sugary version. 🤬🤬🤬 Then there are the breads with French names that DO NOT meet the standards. * “Baguette” is a treasured long loaf protected by French law and UNESCO-designated heritage Artesanal product. —- crusty exterior and very soft very airy interior that it takes intensive training for a baker to be certified as creator of Baguette de Tradition Française. — Here, their long loaf is OVER CHARRED and VERY DENSE🫤🫤🫤, indicating either wrong ingredients OR lack of skill OR both. * “Croissant” means a viennoiserie that is crescent-shaped. …. This is a cute little bakery in Squirrel Hill. They have freshly baked pastries and breads, as well as some coffee. But if you’re going after 2 PM, you cannot get espresso, based drinks such as lattes as the barista leaves at 2 PM. Still get the cold brew, which is what I got, and it was excellent and very reasonably priced. Also had a plain croissant, which was very flaky and buttery. The cafe itself is rather bare and plain. Interior and a couple more seating outdoors. again, with a lot of these neighbourhood places, what stood out for me was the hospitality. The lady at the counter was extremely sweet and she, she in fact gave me a complete loaf of bread for free because I guess they were closing, and they did not want to waste it. I went there near closing time and was there for about half an hour and there was a constant stream of customers coming in which tells me that this bakery is extremely popular with the community around. If you want to solid, dependable and no pretence bakery, this is your spot.

The food is delicious, fresh, and you can tell it’s made with love and baking magic. We love that you can see the makers next door and they often will wave to my child and show them what they are making! With that said, we have come here countless times and the service varies from amazing and patient to totally oblivious and dismissive. When it is great, it’s great, but when they have one grumpy and inpatient worker on the line, it makes for a frustrating experience. Yesterday we got home to find that they threw together a flourless chocolate cake and muffins (all delicious on their own) with a ham and cheese croissant - to which the sweetness of pastries were lost to the overpowering savory flavors of the ham and cheese croissant. Not sure about you, but I really don’t want my delicate flourless chocolate cake to taste like everything bagel. We ended up being overcharged because they charged us before they put our order together and didn’t have an additional ham and cheese croissant, so we added an additional muffin that they threw on top of the other pastries. This might sound tedious and petty to call out, but this type of issue has happened more than a handful of times over the years and we always give them a pass because the pastries and bread are really fantastic and the baking staff seem like genuinely amazing people who love their craft. That said, standing in line for this type of service is...

Upon entering the cozy bakery, the aroma of freshly baked bread and sweet treats fills the air, instantly captivating the senses. The almond croissant is a must-try, with its flaky, buttery layers and a generous filling of sweet almond cream. The blueberry danish is equally impressive, boasting a vibrant burst of fruit flavor and a perfectly crisp crust.
