Friendship Perk & Brew — Restaurant in Pittsburgh

What began as a rocky start turned into a great experience. Our office ordered here through Grubhub and when the order came it was completely wrong. It was 12:30 & I had an office of hungry people so I thought it would be a quicker resolution to go to the restaurant myself vrs attempt to resolve through Grubhub. Between getting a rep on the line, reordering and getting a driver it can take quite a while. I was glad I did! The restaurant is adorable, the staff was emapathetic, helpful and quick to resolve the issue including calling Grubhub while I waited for my order. It turns out there was a known issue with Grubhub that day where multiple restaurants weren't receiving orders & having issues with their tablets they get the orders on. While they contacted Grubhub their chef masterfully created our 8 part order while also completing orders that came in both before and after ours. Fresh, quality ingredients, good portions, fresh bread and perfectly assembled sandwiches. We all ordered different sandwiches and everyone of my sometimes picky coworkers commented how much they enjoyed their food. I was already through half of my sandwich before I thought to take a picture but I got the cheese steak with gorgonzola and would 100% order again. Their unsweetened ice tea (offered comped as a courtesy while I waited) was also notably good. Can't say enough good things, definitely...

Dude, this place ROCKS! I came here before my shift at work with my boyfriend and it was all fantastic. Is it a little pricey, sure. But guess what else is pricey? Terrible chain restaurants with owners who don’t care! Of course you’re going to pay extra for a quality, family business.

I’m pretty sure the couple I talked to were the owners. They were both so kind and took genuine interest in where I was from, what I did etc. They really just felt like good folks.

Also? I had a waffle bacon egg and cheese and it was TOO GOOD. Imagine if a McGriddle was like, a real waffle. Fantastic. I would’ve taken a picture but guess what?! I ate it too fast!

This place is a hidden gem! They have a decent selection of beers, coffee, and some good eats. Most of the food & brew is locally sourced and reflect a true Pittsburgh feel (portions are sizable and loaded with flavor). The frozen custard is a must! Joanne (one of the owners) is an eclectic, eccentric, motherly old soul with an eye for detail. They know how to cater for the very cosmopolitan crowd frequenting this joint. It is the type of place you can visit and experience a true piece of Western-PA, put down your mobile phone/laptop and actually have a conversation with someone. And if you really need to be antisocial there is a sign with the WiFi...
