I am mad at myself for taking so long to finally try this place but glad that I have finally reached my journey's end in terms of finding the kind of Mexican food I have been craving since I moved to Pittsburgh. The past two years of trying to find good Mexican food in Pittsburgh have been a struggle! My standards were set high because I had spent the previous few years living in Southern California and dining with my girlfriend's family, who happen to be from Mexico. To me, Mexican food became something that embodied freshness, flavor, and was relatively inexpensive. I noticed that in Pittsburgh, on what seemed to be the other side of the world from where I was living before, it seemed difficult to find a Mexican eatery that captured all three of these qualities. Most places were shockingly overpriced, so we avoided going to those places altogether. The cheaper places ranged from decent to downright disappointing, but mostly just mediocre.
Taquitos blows the competition away! The quality of the food is unmistakable; the ingredients taste so fresh that it wouldn't surprise me if they chopped it all up from fresh, uncut vegetables at the moment of making every offering. I tried the soyrizo in a burrito and it was so shockingly good that I had to question if they had used the real thing or not. The tortilla chips are thick, crunchy, and taste like they're fried up fresh. I tried a bite of the quesadilla and it was like tasting the most savory, mouth-watering melt that every light in my brain lit up when I bit into it. The food is so good that when my girlfriend and I eat it there is complete silence because we are savoring every bite. There's so much to go on about and more offerings there that I am excited to try. I am just very happy to have finally tried this place because it's already one of my favorite places...
Read moreWow, this place is incredible. We stopped here after picking up a Christmas tree in their back lot, and I am so glad we did. The food is absolutely fantastic. I ordered a couple of burritos, and the size of them was unbelievable, huge and packed with flavor. Every bite was so delicious that I found myself wanting to slow down just to enjoy it longer.
The pricing is surprisingly good for the amount of food you get, which made the experience even better. It is clear this spot is a local favorite because there was a steady flow of people coming and going the entire time we were there. It is always a good sign when you see a place consistently busy like this.
There is not really seating, but the setup is semi-outdoors with clear plastic coverings that shield you from the wind. This made waiting for our order much more comfortable, especially since it was a cold day. Even without formal seating, the atmosphere felt welcoming and added to the experience.
The menu offers a wide variety of options for meats and toppings, and everything is made to order exactly how you like it. You can customize your meal to fit your preferences, which I really appreciate. It is not just about the food tasting good, it is about them making sure you get exactly what you want.
There is no doubt in my mind that I will be stopping by again. This place has earned a spot on my list of must-visit taco stops, and I cannot wait to come back and try more of what they...
Read moreFirst I’ll say this and it’s not a criticism of the place, but all the food is made to order. Lots of people around were complaining when I was there because since it was a food truck they thought it would be fast. From the time I ordered until I got the order was about 20 to 25mins. I was in no hurry so it wasn’t a big deal. So I always give places the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was a bad day….. but it wasn’t very good. My burrito was 90% rice. Barely saw or tasted any meat. The rice was really good but would’ve liked all the other stuff too. The other dish had so many onions in it. A ton. I like onions but that was way overboard lol. It also had hardly any meat at all. It could’ve just been a bad...
