I had a hard time deciding between ordering food from the Silk Elephant or Kiin Lao, but ultimately I went with the latter because of their unique Lao roots. I tried some of the food from the Bangkok Balcony menu, including the Pad Thai with tofu (spice level 0) and Thai custard with coconut sticky rice.

This is without a doubt one of the best Pad Thai's I've had in Pittsburgh. The portion is huge, especially comparing it to some of the places I've tried in Edgewood. Probably enough for 2 meals for most people. There was more than plenty of tofu in this pad Thai, but you did have to pay extra for it and the price is a bit on the high side (depending on which online ordering platform you use).

There were loads of peanuts in here, and you could actually taste them and feel their crunch (unlike in many other places). You can also taste and see the egg, which I really enjoyed. Plus the bean sprouts were so fresh and crispy, and the food was still hot when it arrived to my house. Their sauce is flavorful and delicious. The Pad Thai isn't saucy but not dry either. More generous with sauce than some Thai spots, but I'd still want a little more (I love saucy Pad Thai).

Then, I tried their Thai custard. It was very tasty. Also, it had an unique and visually appealing color scheme: black rice with green custard. The rice was sticky (as it should be) and the custard was sweet and comforting. I love how they served the coconut milk on the side! I drank some of it before pouring it over the custard, and wow, it's fantastic. A touch of saltiness, some sweetness, creamy, and just amazing. Great final touch to this dish.

All in all, I would definitely recommend Kiin Lao/Bangkok Balcony for their Thai food, and their Lao food sounds incredible as well. The Pad Thai was served in a huge portion and it was delicious. The Thai custard was...

I can't believe I've been missing out on this place for so long. I've always passed by but never noticed this little place on the second floor. The interior design was so cute and I loved the table next to the windows.

We were feeling hungry so we got two appetizers, one main and one salad(which was also like a main). To start off, if you eat pork, you have to try this grilled pork shoulder dish, it was such a treat and it was so yummy that we couldn't stop eating it til we've finished the dish. It is a great fat to lean meat proportion and they grilled it so nicely, it was perfectly tender and not over cooked at all. The sauce was also amazing, it's slightly spicy, slightly sweet and sour and I can taste a hinge of fish sauce, the combination was so good and it was so appetizing. The sticky rice also went with it perfectly. Please this is a must try, the favorite dish for both of us as well.

The curry puff were okay, they were yummy but very big and fulfilling, I definitely liked it but the pork shoulder impressed us too much.

I've always wanted to try laab so I got the pork laab, it was also good, the flavor was also very appetizing as it is slightly sour sweet and spicy. I did ask for spicy level 8 but it didn't taste very spicy to me. Still it was yummy, I wrapped it in lettuce and also ate it with rice, both ways fun and delicious. I didn't really try my friend's dish so I have no comment. Overall, everything we got was so so yummy, we're so satisfied and we'll def come back and try more Lao dish, we will also have to get the pork shoulder again, best...

Nice-looking restaurant that we wanted to try out, but unfortunately we didn't get to stay long enough to taste their food. My family of 3 asked to be seated by the windows. We were told it was ok and joined 2 tables to fit our group. As we were enjoying the atmosphere and waiting to order our food, a lady, rather rudely, asked us to move. I'm not sure if she was a manager. When we told her their own staff told us we could sit there, she said the young lady that we talked too didn't speak English. How could we know? How is that on us? Her rationale was that those tables by the window were a big hit with customers; I guess we didn't fit the profile for those sought-after customers, that are worth working with. I understand misunderstandings happen but it's their job to work with their customers, to handle uncomfortable situations. So, for one unoccupied seat (due to essentially joining 2 tables of 2), at a time where the restaurant was far from being busy, she went out of her way to embarrass my family (with a 7yr old child), AFTER we had already been seated, by their own staff, for at least 5 mins. I hate to leave a negative review but this was a bad experience for my family. I hope they learn from this to avoid similar customer experiences with other customers. Please, this is not a review of the location or food. I could be wrong but it seemed like a local family-owned restaurant. I root for such businesses and I wish...

From the moment we stepped into Kiin Lao & Thai Eatery, we knew we were in for something special. This family-owned gem delivers an authentic Lao and Thai culinary experience that’s both comforting and exciting. We ordered a diverse spread and every single dish was a standout: • Red Curry with Beef: Rich, perfectly spiced, and deeply flavorful. The beef was tender and soaked up the velvety coconut-based curry beautifully. It had just the right heat and complexity. • Green Curry with Tofu: A lighter, herbaceous option that still packed a ton of flavor. The tofu was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside, soft inside—and the broth was fragrant and soul-warming. • Crispy Brussels Sprouts: These were addictively good. Charred just right, tossed with a savory glaze that brought a sweet, tangy, and umami punch. A must-order. • Pad Thai: Classic, well-balanced, and not overly sweet like some places. Noodles had a great chew, and the dish was full of fresh veggies, peanuts, and lime. • Curry Puffs: Flaky, golden pastry with a deliciously seasoned filling. A fantastic appetizer to start the meal. The service was warm, attentive, and full of pride in the food they serve. The space is stylish yet welcoming, perfect for families or date night. We left full, happy, and already planning our return. Kiin Lao& Thai Eatery isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. Five stars, without hesitation
