REDUCED ANOTHER STAR FOR UPDATE BELOW Super disappointed with wholeys. We try to support local grocers like Wholey’s as best we can. We spend over $100 on a prime rib for Christmas. I called ahead to make sure they could cut a nice piece and put it aside. I was told they didn’t do that. When I arrived I asked for a newer piece and was again told that I needed to pick a pre-packaged one. I tried to figure out as best I could what one looked the best but when we took it out of our fridge the next day it had the smell of rot and when we cut into it to check it was brown in areas. We braved the insane crowds (gold star for your parking crew at least) and when my husband was trying to return the prime rib- he was met with an unfriendly meat worker who said that it “didn’t smell That bad”. Instead of one large roast the meat manager found two smaller roasts that my husband was anxious about in terms of equal quality. When we got home- one of the roasts as Clearly fresher than the other. So now we have 50 dollars of meat that is again turning rancid. Our holiday dinner is already hours off track and we honestly don’t have the emotionally energy to go Back into the strip- battle for parking- and deal with the same unhappy employee. We will be going back to Tom Friday’s for all of our big meat purchases to ensure quality and better customer service.

UPDATE we took the second roast back and were once again met with pretty negative employees. They tried to tell us we were scamming them and that the photo that I included in this review was the first roast....which makes no since since it was One piece of meat - and it wouldn’t be two different colors from one half to the other. We just wanted a better roast- not a coupon or anything free or money back. Instead they told us to take the money and leave because “we get people scamming us all the time”. Incredible. We told them they lost two loyal customers and they told us “that’s just fine”.

We went directly to Tom Friday’s who apologized For Wholey’s (more than we ever got form Wholey’s) and sold us the best prime rib we’ve ever had. The quality was bar none. We were also informed that the roasts we got at wholeys we’re ungraded- hence the lesser quality. It was worth paying the extra three dollars a pound to a) get a reliable and delicious piece of meat as well as quality customer service and B) support the last hanging butchers in Pittsburgh who appreciate our business and...

This place has the worst customer service. The owner needs to daily train their staffs included the managers on the two rules which are posted in front of the entrance. I went into the Robert Wholey store to shop around 9:10am today. I checked out at about 9:30am with $77.82 worth of grocery and fish. I went to my car which is parked in Wholey parking lot to drop all the stuff I bought from Wholey. I realized i needed to get a few Chinese grocery from Lotus. I immediately walked out of the parking lot. The lot attendant is so rude. He asked me to remove my car out of Wholey parking lot since I am not a Wholey customer. I showed my receipt and explain to him that I just need a few minutes to grab a few Chinese grocery since Wholey does not sell Chinese grocery. I went to customer relation desk to explain the situation. The managers and staffs at the relation desk are trying to avoid me. They are trying to prove that i am wrong about parking my car in their lot since I am not a Wholey customer at the mean time. Note that the parking lot is almost empty at the time I am trying to get a few Chinese grocery across the street. In short, they are all very rude to me since I only need a few minutes to buy a few Chinese grocery at Lotus while parking in their lot. However, I have already spent $77.82 at 9:30am on July 11th, 2017. Bottom line is it would only take me two or three minutes to grab Chinese grocery. Meanwhile I had to spend fifteen minutes to be convinced that I am wrong by the wholey staff and manager. They are also rude to me and ask me to be respectful to their parking lot attendant. I have no respect and no tolerance on their parking rule, their staff and manager. It is not worth it to spend your money and time here at ROBERT WHOLEY in the strip district. They do not respect and expect me as their customer. I shop all the fish, meats at their store all the times. I go to wholey three times a month. And NOW I will have to change the store. Wholey, you are no longer my shopping destination for Fish, Meat. Thanks for your misleading two rules posted in front of...

There is clearly racist profiling happening at the Wholey’s parking lot. Apparently, (they feel) they have an issue with people who park there only to shop at the Chinese Supermarket close by. So if you happen to look Asian, you will be routinely harassed by the staff, even if you are a frequent Wholey’s customer. Our family just decided to take our business elsewhere from now on, after we were berated not just by the parking attendant, but the manager and a security guard as well. What happened? While I was buying $100+ worth of Wholey’s goods as I do every week, my husband went to pick up some small items at the Chinese store next door – something that did not extend our use of the parking spot one bit. As I was pushing the full Wholey’s shopping cart toward the car to unload, I was confronted by the overzealous parking attendant. My argument that I had clearly been shopping at Wholey’s as required and that it makes no difference where other members of my family were at the time fell on deaf ears. I complained to the store manager who did not recognize the absurdity of the debate either, and sided with the parking guard. I made it a point to return my merchandize at the spot and vowed to never set foot into that store again. Something tells me that the folks at Wholey’s silently congratulated themselves for getting rid of another one of those obnoxious...

I came here on a tasting event it was super crowded. It was fried cod and chips. The cod tasted okay. The batter really wasn't seasoned at all. It was super heavy on the oil in the fry, which usually means the fryer wasn't at a high enough temperature to fry it properly, but it's soaked up so much oil. By the time I was done eating one of the fried cod fillets, my stomach was so upset from the amount of oil that I was not having a good time. Also, the very very fishy smell of the market did not draw any favors from me. I've been to many fresh fish markets and you're not supposed to get that very fishy smell. It usually means the fish is starting to go when you get that very potent fishy smell. Either that or they're not stored very well, I would be willing to give this place another shot and get there as they open because I know how temperamental seafood is. But it was not a good foot forward.
