Great kitchen store in the Strip District. If you are a chef, or you know someone who is, try checking this place out. Its a very convenient location; you can do some shopping in the Strip and then pick up some knives, baking materials, ovens, coffee grinders, and other cookware items.
This place has a great variety of products for the size. It's not huge, but the items they sell are high quality. They have some of the best knives that you can buy in the Pittsburgh area. Keep an eye out for the knife display they have. You'll see Zwilling, Wusthof (rated and recognized as one of the best knives, if not the best, for chefs), among others.
They also offer knife sharpening services. If you are a serious chef, this is essential to ensure your knives last for a while and you can make the most out of your products. The staff is also quite helpful and will ensure you find the best product for your needs. It's clean and well organized. Price-wise, it is fair. You can probably find cheaper ordering from the manufacturer directly or searching online, but it's one of the cheaper kitchen speciality stores in the area. It's not the best place to shop if you are a thrifty home cook and don't take cooking too seriously. Great for gift giving to chefs.
Overall, if you are serious about cooking and want some more upscale items (even some more standard items, like baking materials, pans, etc.) stop by here next time you're in the Strip. Prices are pretty fair, staff is great, products are high quality, and they offer...
Read moreShort version: This is such a wonderful store with excellent customer service. The employees are very kind and helpful. Support this local business if you are shopping for yourself or buying for someone who loves to cook, bake, or have cute things in their kitchen!
Detailed version: I have always loved In The Kitchen, but recently their customer service was over the top! I went in searching for the very desirable, and difficult to find in stores, hot cocoa bomb molds. They did not have them, but they advised that they placed an order for them. I followed up a few days later by messaging them through Instagram. I received a prompt response that the order had not arrived, but they would keep me posted. The day the hot cocoa bomb molds arrived, they indeed remembered to message me to let me know they were in! You may be thinking “well, sure, they wanted your business”, but these molds have been selling out everywhere, so I am sure they were not worried about making one little sale off of me. I truly appreciate the customer service. Whether I am in store or messaging them, everyone who works there has been so kind and helpful. I’m a big advocate for shopping local, and this is the perfect local store if you are updating anything in your kitchen or looking for a perfect gift for your friends who love to...
Read moreDepending on the brand of the product, you could be paying up to 30% over what it costs at Amazon, Target, and the brand's own website (example: OXO). Even with that in mind, I still liked to shop there for the quality selection, location in the Strip, supporting local, and good customer service but today I got slack for still using their yellow, reusable shopping bag, something they no longer give out when you spend over $100 in one visit but they still honor the 10% discount on Tuesdays. First he informs me I'm the only one that used it today and then tells me they stopped giving them out because they see the same people over and over again, as if retaining customers is a bad thing. Then he says "See you next Tuesday!" as if I'm being cheap and only shopping on Tuesdays when I still paid 12% more than if I had just bought these items at Target, even after the 10% off. For the record, I've only come in two Tuesdays since acquiring that bag a year ago but I'll be throwing it out as to not embarrass myself again. I would have rather he just said they no longer do...
