Edit 7/21/18: I have been in contact with the owners of Papa Joe's, who were kind enough to reach out to me regarding my issues detailed below. I was given a refund and offered an apology, which earns another star in my book. I am happy to hear about the changes and renovations planned for the future and may decide to try Papa Joe's again once completed.
I wanted to love Papa Joe's, I truly did. I've ordered delivery from them more than a dozen times and the delivery guy was always courteous and friendly. Every few times I'd ordered, part of my order would be incorrect. It happens, but I kept ordering because when they were good, they were really good.
Unfortunately, today I ate in the actual restaurant for the first time. I don't care about decor and things of that nature. All I care about is good food and a clean restaurant. Today, I experienced neither. The first thing I noticed were the numerous flies in the dining room, sticky menus, and sticky condiment bottles. While unpleasant, it was tolerable with hand sanitizer. The dining room smelled musty, like a wet dishrag.
The real problem is what happened with my food. I ordered a calzone, which I always get. I had eaten almost half of it when I noticed the bit on my fork had a foreign curly hair poking out of it—not just stuffed inside, but partially baked into the dough! NASTY. Upon informing the waitress ( who was very nice) and showing her the hair in my calzone, she took away my plate. When the check came, not only did I not get an apology from the manager, but they didn't even take the calzone off of the bill. They gave me a $4 discount, making me pay for the almost-half that I already ate.
I'm sorry, but in what world do you make someone pay for food with a hair in it? It smacks of cheap pettiness. It was disgusting, but an apology and doing the right thing by taking responsibility for the error would have gone a long way. (Although, hair nets would go even farther, frankly.)
My family and I will not be ordering from Papa Joe's ever again. I hope the four bucks...
Read moreBeen coming here since the 80's, but not anymore. This was a positive review but I have to change it. I just got a pizza and it had an object in it that I didn't even know what it was. It was under the cheese and I didn't even see it when I took the slice. Thankfully I did not swallow it and hopefully will not be getting sick because of it. It was not food, it was the size of a small stone and broke apart when I handled it revealing fibers packed into it (took some pics). I cannot recommend a place I do not trust. That was beyond gross. The staff at the front were very courteous when I returned the pizza and there was no problem with them.
Response to the restaurant's reply: Actually it bothered me more. My birthday was the 8th. You were closed. So I waited a day for your food as it was my birthday dinner. Imagine how immensely disappointed I was when my patience was rewarded by almost swallowing an unidentified foreign object that looked disgusting. Happy...

At 7: 22 p.m. I ordered a large thick crust pizza with hamburger and extra cheese by phone...I also ask for a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke....to be delivered. I was told that it would be delivered in 40 minutes. About 40 minutes later a large thin crust hand tossed custom pizza arrived ( not the thick crust pan pizza I ordered ) but there is no Diet Coke. The delivery driver told me he would be right back with the Diet Coke I had ordered. Because I had paid for the order with a credit card, giving him a $ 2.00 tip I felt he would return. He didn't. I had to wait till the next night to get the Diet Coke because the drivers had left work by the time I got back to them. So it ended up being cold pizza and my own bottled water that night and a salad with the Diet Coke the...
