Real Japanese Ramen in NEPA — A Hidden Gem Worth Supporting

I can’t say enough good things about Fuji Ramen. As someone who lived in Japan for years and spent time on the West Coast eating amazing ramen, I didn’t expect to find anything this authentic in Northeastern Pennsylvania — but I’m so glad I was wrong.

The ramen here is outstanding. The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked with just the right bite, and the chashu pork is so tender it practically melts in your mouth. The attention to detail is impressive — from the marinated eggs (ajitama) to traditional toppings like menma and kikurage mushrooms, they really capture the flavor and feel of ramen in Japan.

One thing I really want to highlight is the chicken karaage. It’s a classic Japanese fried chicken dish that’s surprisingly hard to find around here, especially done right. Fuji Ramen nails it. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned just like I remember from my time in Japan. It’s one of the best versions I’ve had in the U.S., period — and a perfect side to go with your bowl.

We went on a Sunday night and were surprised the place wasn’t packed. This kind of quality food deserves way more attention. You can tell the people running it truly care about making something authentic and special.

If you’re anywhere near the area — or even if you’re not — make the trip to Fuji Ramen. You’ll be glad you did. I’m already looking forward to going back.

Had a little difficulty finding the right door but once we did we were inside a bright and welcoming dining establishment. It was a little sparse of decor but that's not a big deal. I appreciated the option of ordering thru a QR code menu or with the staff.

I got the Peach Sparkling drink with Strawberry pearls, my bf got the Melon with Strawberry pearls- the drinks were OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS. We are absolutely coming back just for some boba!

I got the Shoyu Ramen Combo w/ a pork bun, my bf got the Tantan Ramen Combo w/ a pork bun - the charsiu had a very clean smoky pork flavor, almost like bbq. The Shoyu broth was delicious, and not overly salty like some places. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. I tasted the Tantan and it was SO GOOD. Didn't explode your palette with spice, and packed a flavorful punch.

I'm very excited to try the Poké Bowls next time!

The staff we interacted with were also so kind and lovely to speak with!

10/10 we will...

I love how this is a traditional ramen place and the food is absolutely delicious. The prices aren’t horrible either! I think it’s fantastic how they offer many options for people who require dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian, etc. it’s a huge plus because I personally can barely eat out due to my dietary restrictions! The service was also amazing, we had an older woman who was very kind and understanding. This place also has boba with tapioca which is uncommon for the area. Fuji Ramen is a hidden gem and deserves a lot more attention! The only tip I have is to add more decorations or a better ambience as it was very plain and have...

I love this place! Their ramen is exceptional. Today I had a poke bowl with eel and chicken. It was phenomenal. The seaweed salad is awesome and really made the bowel epic. The mochi and bubble tea were great too. Some of the nicest staff I've ever dealt with. Our server was phenomenal. The prices are a little higher than the usual in Pittston but it's so worth it. You must try the karaage chicken and tonkotsu bowl. I'm still shocked that there's such great Japanese cuisine outside of the big cities. Five stars!
