Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Placentia

Found this small Mexican eatier while searching for authentic Mexican cuisine. While the restaurant has the look and feel of a local and family run restaurant, the service and taste leave much to be desired.

I was surprised that the only seafood entree they offered was shrimp enchiladas or fajitas. I chose the later and was thoroughly disappointed by both the lack of shrimp and the horride taste of the guacamole (watery with an after taste that would only go away with soda). I think I counted four pieces of shrimp but a bunch of green peppers, onions, and grilled tomatoes. My fajitas came with two small flour tortillas. At least the beans and rice were a nice touch and tasted what it should be.

The service was ok. The chip bowl never seemed empty since the server would always replace the bowl even if not empty. Two types of salsa were provided and it was ok. Another server seemed to be in a rush yet gave a smile while taking our order.

At the time of our visit the restaurant I noticed about only 4 tables...

Use to go here almost every weekend (before the world ended in 2020) The last time I went with two friends from out of town, both rather large dudes - over 6ft. Anyway, we took a larger booth in the front (the place was EMPTY, except for two young employees and an older woman, possibly their grandmother.) We took the larger booth because, like I said, two dude over 6ft. A young waitress came and asked us to move to the back. I asked why, she said to make room for any large groups that might want to sit there. I told her WE were a 'larger' group and she states "well, can you just move anyway?".... ok fine. we sat in the back. And it just went weird and downhill from there. Mostly the two young people arguing over who had to take out the order, while it sat there, then deciding to make the grandmother do it. Then they argued over who had to clear the plate. Had grandmother do it. Then who had to handle the check etc. The place was empty the ENTIRE time. Left and haven't...

Years ago I used to meet my best friend here for lunch .. food was always delicious. Today I took my mom food was delicious and inexpensive. However service was not what it used to be it took a few minutes to seat us even though an employee could see us it wasnt like he went to go get whomever was to seat us which wasnt hard since place only had 2 other parties inside. When the older lady took our order it was like she was mad or something... no smile, no thank you , no I will be back with chips and salsa for table . My mom asked what was in salad and she just stared at her so I re asked and she said do you want a salad ? So my mom just gave up and ordered on. Service was slow and the entire time an employee was out obviously talking and bsing with customers he knew. So much for teamwork to make place faster. Food again great ....
