Tom's Burger & Frosty — Restaurant in Placerville

Just stopped in for a root beer float and a milkshake on way from Lake Tahoe to Sacramento Airport. So glad we did. Ultra-friendly staff happy to take order at counter. Jessica had her heart, and tastebuds, set on a float and was delighted with the soft-serve product. I was set on a chocolate milkshake (vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup of course), but quickly changed my mind when I saw they made a chocolate chip shake, which are increasingly difficult to find. Both were sooth-as-silk heavenly and packed with flavor. Despite the good-sized crowd on a late Wednesday afternoon, our treats were prepared and delivered quickly. As we'd already had lunch in Placerville, no food this time, but the all-American menu looked straight out of the 1960s with dogs, bacon-burgers, fries and rings. The diverse crowd of all ages was lapping it up in the warm spring sun just west of downtown on old Highway 50. I give it an enthusiastic fives stars for a reason....

This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We went in tonight to get ice cream not realizing it was so late and they were about to close. The cashier told us no ice cream only food because they closed in one minute and he “had to clean the machine.” We left because we get it and understand. I called to speak with the manager after we left and wanted to see if that was common practice or if that was just the kid in the front trying to get out of there on a Friday night. From the sounds of the manager, the could care less about customer service. He hung up on me when I called and asked to speak to a manger. Before I said anything. I called back a second time and he says “yes I am the manager, what do you need because we are closed.” I told him what the cashier said and he laughed and hung up. We won’t ever go back and I won’t be surprised if they go out...

Usually a great place, but last time I ordered 2 double burgers, ice cream, and an ice tea for 30 bucks, and when I eventually got the 2 burgers I ordered, they were so over salted that I could barely finish half of one... I didn't conplaint right away, because I was starving, and just waited about 20 min to get this ones, so I wasn't going to wait any more...And, to top it off, when I went to pick up the ice cream, and the ice tea (which I now was craving after all that salt), I was told after waiting, that I didn't order it the ice tea, and didn't pay for it. At this point I wasn't going to pay any more, and wait any longer, so I left. Later turned out that the other burger was just as over salted as the first one, and just had to be thrown away. To their credit, the French fries were excellent, and so was the ice cream. Other than that, very...
