We usually have the best experience at this theater and always bring my kids, ranging from 5-17 years old. We love the comfort of the seats and the lounges as well, the snacks and drinks are affordable and the staff at the concession stand is always so nice. The staff in the concession stand last night, 11/28/23, were wonderful and kind and were excited we were there to see Wish for our daughter's 5th birthday(the 5pm showing). The theater was practically empty, maybe 10-12 people at best. My 5 year and I laid together in the lounge seat, she is scared in the dark so I allowed her to use my phone flash light on low to see. The manager approached us a short time later and said it was ok, but to not shine at the ceiling, completely understandable and we complied. Shortly after, he walked up to his again and told us the flashlight was casting a shadow on the screen and it needed to be turned off. Again, completely understandable and we complied and he was very kind about it. I noticed he was still standing at the end of the row watching us and the others in the theater, I made sure my daughter wasn't running around, even though we were in a kids movie and keeping a kid still through that is not easy. At the end of the movie, a woman approached us and asked what the flash light was all about and that it caused a shadow on the screen. The other patrons in the theater stated they didn't notice that, it was a bizarre interaction and we didn't understand why this woman felt it necessary to approach my family. We walked out and in the lobby we saw this same woman standing by the front, with the manager, and a family and it seemed like she was confronting them as well. My husband had heard her complaining to the family about their children being disruptive during the movie and mentioned us as well. At this time, my husband requested to speak to the manager. He asked the manager if there was an issue because this woman kept talking about us and the other family and we complied with his request and we thought nothing more of it, so what was going on. We were then told this woman, who complained, used to be the manger and ran the theater. Ok, and? She's isn't an employee now. We told him we complied and had no issue with turning the small flashlight off. The woman spoke up from the corner of the lobby and asked if we needed to speak to her. My adult daughter spoke up and told the woman to mind her own business, the manager told my daughter that it wasn't appropriate to say that. WHAT?? She wasn't rude at all, this woman clearly needed to just mind her business and drop it but she wouldn't and walked over to us and approached us AGAIN. My husband told the manager that we were there celebrating our daughter's birthday and this interaction really ruined the experience for us(not her because she was oblivious), the manager told US that WE ruined this woman's movie experience along with the other family. The manager excused this woman's actions and allowed her to berate his customers and not once apologized to us for her behavior. My husband told them we understood any issue there may have been but in the future, only employees should handle these situations. She had no business approaching families, complaining that KIDS ruined her experience. We left confused as hell, unsure why the manager allowed this woman to approach his customers, numerous times, and stood next to her. I have never ever experienced anything like this and still remain confused by the entire interaction. I don't care if she used to run the place or own in, she truly had no business approaching families and teaming up with management and I feel the manager should have supported his customers not a previous employee. I am so disappointed by...
Read moreSuch a shame. I have three problems with this specific theater. First, about the selection of movies and movie-watcher crowd that comes in: This theater just attracts people who have been raised in a closed-minded atmosphere and allow for a restriction on their movie choices by the powers that be at this Placerville location. None of the movies that make it to the other Regal cinemas (even those with the same number of theaters at the location or less) have these restrictions, as in other small or even major cities. Second, the types of people who come in. Are we in the deep deep South? I am of Argentinian descent and born in Seattle. That scares people here, you know, being a white Latino American with a law degree who sometimes likes to visit Placerville with my family to visit wineries and shops with a nice movie at the end of the day. I have had white supremacists and trailer-trash minded people from nearby Pollock Pines (undoubtedly the same people who live in the Gold Ridge foreclosure forest and Pony Express Trailer homes) say racist things to me and my family before, during, and after the movies that we have seen. It's just as bad as going to the Placerville Wal-Mart, which we now will never do (just look up Wal-Mart Placerville videos on Youtube. It's all the rage for those who want a good laugh and feel disgusted about the state of American culture as non-Americans see it, which is very unfortunate). The managers seemed to not care when I brought this up to them each time this had happened. Shocking. (not) Third, can you charge even more for crappy popcorn and food? Everyone talks about this popcorn like it's the best meal they have ever had in the area. I guess next to their daily dose of Spaghetti-O's, Lunchables, and Shasta, that might be the case. I do not recommend this theatre. Go 20 minutes away to El Dorado Hills or Folsom where the people and atmosphere is less racist, less closed-minded, more inviting, and less...
Read moreSOOOOO BAD!!!!! Awful, appalling customer service..Male Employee yelled at me who is a very pregnant woman, other customers trying to help me, and scared the crap out of my 4 year old daughter bringing her to tears. Got to the movie early to get food with my 4 year old daughter. We were so excited for wicked. After waiting TWENTY mins for my food, I asked if my pretzel bites were still coming and a female employee assured me they were on the way...Then, a couple mins later I watched as she exited the room where the oven was, pretzel bites in hand, and literally give my order away to someone who had just ordered them at the counter...After confronting them, the employee proceeded to just microwave my food and handed it to me, no apology whatsoever. This made us late for our movie and miss the whole beginning..Yes, We ate SOME of the pretzel bites...I was trying to make do. my 4 year old was very hungry, and I am pregnant...so yeah I was very hungry as well...but the food was ice cold, hard and so gross so we stopped eating it. Obviously I wanted to speak to a manger after the movie finished but after the movie let out, A male employee who was incredibly rude and dismissive from the get go, proceeded to say to me there was nothing he could do and the GM (who he told me wasn't even there) said no to a refund. He was yelling very loudly at me and other customers that I didn't even know but who tried to help me because of his disgusting behavior...all in front of my young child. He refused to call the manager who was actually there and proceeded to yell at me that he was busy and so was she. We used to love placerville cinema and supporting local, but I don't know, this was really really disgusting. Absolutely Appalling behavior, Condescending, rude and dismissive. I cannot believe this is how we were treated especially being pregnant and with a young child. Placerville...
