Update: Was in Plainfield and came back for another round here. Better than last time. I had two pizzas that I've never tried, one of them was a brand new Reuben Pizza. There's nowhere in the Chicago area where I can get specialty pizzas like this. They've got unique sauces and cheeses that are way better than your standard pizza fare. My wings were excellent, wings have a smoky flavor that you don't get from a basic deep fried stuff. Meatballs were as good as I remembered. Also I finished everything off with a Cheesecake milk shake, what more could a man want! Same friendly inviting atmosphere I remembered. Really like the vibe in this place. It seems like more and more restaurants are becoming boring/corporate/bland, and these guys are taking the exact opposite approach. Authentic flavors, real food, family-owned, old world atmosphere. 5 stars! Original Review: Went to a graduation party here. Had an awesome time. I'm Italian, so I've got some pretty high standards, given all the homemade Italian food I get from eating with family. I was very impressed by the authentic food and flavors. The standout items for me were "The Butcher" pizza, the massive meatballs with homemade sauce, and the Italian sausage with sweet peppers. Waitress was very attentive, didn't have to ask her to refill my drink. Big Pauly came out from cooking in the kitchen to greet the guests, mingle with people, and pose for pictures. The restaurant itself has a really authentic Italian family feel. It’s got an old world, woody theme and all the walls are covered in photos of the owner's actual Italian family from the 40s & 50s. I will be coming back.

Without any hesitation OR exaggeration, I would say this is one of the best dining experiences I have had in years! The atmosphere has a lovely rustic feel and is very inviting. All of the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive; our drinks were never empty and the waitresses (shout out to Madelyn and Leah) always came to our table with smile on their faces! The owner Pauly and his wife (apologies madame, I didn't catch your name) took the time to personally accept my praise and be very humble; you can tell that they put their hearts into what they are doing and theyre just thankful we enjoyed ourselves so much. And most importantly, the food was exquisite. It has been about an hour since my family and I shared their "Butcher" pizza and I am still trying to understand how good that pizza was! All the ingredients were insanely fresh and everything is made by hand. There's no other pizza in the area even on the same level as the one I just ate. If you are local to Plainfield and haven't had this pizza, you are pizza-ing wrong. We won't order elsewhere locally again. This experience just reminds me that if you put your love into what youre doing and you treat other people like they are people, it resonates and your business is beyond successful as far as im concerned. Not enough places anymore will be as hospitable or friendly as Big Pauly's Pizza. Pauly and his team were the highlight of my family's Wednesday; thank you and keep doing what youre doing friends! (And the shirt fit perfectly, thanks again!)

So the pizza is good above all. If you like a more "gourmet" style pizza, you'll really love Big Pauly's. I have 3 thoughts/suggestions. 1- The service was slow. I also understand it's a Friday night and we got the last dine in table and it's wood fired pizza. It's going to take awhile. 2- there was some confusion on our order and we got a pizza not the way we ordered it. It's the first week of being open, I understand that things still have to be worked out, but our server never really apologised or took ownership of the mistake. It sounded like it was our fault the pizza was ordered wrong. I remember clearly ordering it a different way, but even after all that, there was never really any offer to make it right. I would suggest a little more training in the customer service department. The server was never rude or anything, but for the money I paid, I would expect a higher level of service. 3- This place is expensive as pizza goes. It's good pizza, don't get me wrong, just be ready for the fact that it's pricier then other local pizza restaurants on the area. I gave it 3 stars for now. Over all, it's good food and a pleasant atmosphere.(Although we also experienced the wind as people came & went. This was mentioned in another review) I wouldn't order it every weekend, but certainly every couple of months

First off, I never leave reviews because reviews are more so for middle aged women/men who cant be made happy. 5 stars isn't enough for this place. I need about as many good noodle stars as Spongebob had. This place has never made anything less than perfect. The prices are high..for cheap people who don’t understand what fresh ingredients and good food is. Want a $5 pizza? go to Walmart. Eat your sad Walmart pizza. Feel bad about not getting Big Pauly’s Pizza. Wanna know how much i love this place? I brought my camera in! I did a photoshoot for my photography class that was on the subject food. I got an A+. All thanks to Big Pauly’s. Everyone who rates below 5 stars and says they didn’t like the food is a LIAR. They’re just mad Big Pauly has that much Pizza talent. I love Big Pauly’s Pizza. I dream about eating it. I don't tie my shoes because if its not a Big Pauly’s garlic knot...why would i want it. My mom gets the bruschetta or something. No idea what that is. But it has to be AMAZING or she would say it wasn't. The servers? Amazing. Casual! Which is perfect. Give them a raise! They arent putting on that server act I know some people feel they have to do. They work at Big Pauly’s! They’re already amazing for having that job! If I get famous one day ill always come back to chilling Illinois for this pizza. And heck! If im super rich i’ll buy the Big Paulys family a vacation every year. They DESERVE IT! If I was Ellen I’d have you guys on my show. If I was Gordan Ramsey I’d retire because someone has somehow beat me in the kitchen. With all that said, yeah this place is pretty good. feeling hungry. Gonna come in tonight or every night. Whichever my...
