Slack's Oyster House & Grill — Restaurant in Plainville

Disappointed. Ordered salmon last night and spoke to the waitress about how it's prepared. I stated that I didn't want it overcooked and that I wanted there to be some translucence in that middle. She stated she would ask for it to be cooked medium, adding they don't usually overcook it. Much to my disappointment it came out piping hot and fully cooked through; I'm my opinion, overcooked! I did eat it, but didn't enjoy it. The broccoli was also very disappointing - certainly not what I expected. (Precuts from a bag, with side of a not-so-appealing dipping sauce). My dinner mate's asparagus was perfection, though! I was also annoyed that there was no salt and pepper on the table. I wanted to use both on my salad. I looked around and, oddly, there wasn't a single salt or pepper shaker anywhere! How can that be? One would think it was the height of a pandemic! Not sure if I'll return here again. I am very disappointed in this restaurant. I met some friends that were going to celebrate my birthday . It was a disaster from the get go. We had to wait a good solid 20 or so minutes just to place our drink order. Then another 20 minutes or so to place our food order . We waited at least an hour to get our food! I will say the waitress kept apologizing but at this point it really didn’t matter who’s fault it was. At no time did the manager come over during our waiting time. He did bring out our food for three of us (there were four of us ) by the time we were half way through (she told us to start while our food was hot) she finally got hers. The manager didn’t say a word to us other than through the waitress saying he will comp some of the bill. Then I find out that my friend arranged through her reservation for them to surprise me with a cake, well that never happened and there was no mention of it. I ordered the Lobster roll and i feel it was nothing special for the price . The other three liked their meals so that’s a plus . Needless to say I will not...

My boyfriend and I walked in, went directly to the host station to be greeted from a male host asking us immediately "are you all set?". We literally just walked in and did not speak with any other restaurant personnels there, so automatically that was a red flag. After we were seated, we decided to leave because of how uncomfortable we felt based on how the host/server had treated us when we walked in. As we were walking out the door, he made a comment "I figured that was going to happen." I immediately said, "that was extremely rude". He continued to stare us down as we walked out. Never will I ever go to this place again because of how rude this host was. It seems like he had judged us on how we appeared, young and couldn't afford it. We can afford more than what he can make there for sure. Such a terrible experience I've had, especially being a foodie from Providence with an abundance of great restaurants...
