I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yu’s Asian, and I’m beyond thrilled to share that it was an unequivocal five-star experience from start to finish! This family-owned gem truly stands out as the epitome of a “hole in the wall” spot that astonishes with its remarkable offerings. Firstly, the prices are unbeatably affordable, making it the perfect choice for anyone looking to indulge in delicious food without breaking the bank.
The menu is replete with an impressive selection of Chinese dishes, each more tempting than the last. However, the star of the show for me was their Orange Chicken - a dish I’ve always been particularly picky about due to my preference for a version that’s crispy, yet flavorful. Yu’s Asian has managed to master this balance beautifully. Unlike many places where the chicken can be soggy and the orange flavor overpowering, here, the Orange Chicken is perfect. Very. Crispy. And just the right touch of orange flavor that complements rather than overwhelms. It’s clear there’s a lot of love and expertise put into their cooking.
And let’s not overlook the portions – they are enormous! You definitely get more than your money’s worth here, with servings so generous that you’ll likely have leftovers to take home and enjoy later. This aspect, along with the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by the owners, makes dining at Yu’s Asian feel like you’re enjoying a meal prepared by your own family.
In conclusion, Yu’s Asian is a true find for anyone in search of top-notch Chinese cuisine at an affordable price. The delicious food, generous portions, and the cozy, unpretentious ambiance makes it a must-visit. But it’s their Orange Chicken that will keep me coming back for more. I can’t recommend Yu’s Asian enough and look forward to my...
Read moreEDIT** In 2024 they closed for renovations and opened again recently but with a completely different menu. Gone are the Szechuan chicken and fried rice I loved. Now it seems like more of an authentic Chinese menu, but I don't like authentic Chinese food very much. I prefer the Americanized versions as I'm not Chinese and haven't enjoyed the flavors of the other authentic places in the area I've tried.
So if you're looking for the old Yu's with the more Americanized Chinese dishes it doesn't exist anymore. For that my new place is Master Wok on the corner of Plano Parkway and Jupiter Rd. Great food and great prices.
4 stars for the Szechuan Chicken and Chicken and Shrimp dishes. Those are by far my favorite here. The other stuff I've tried have ranged from decent to didn't like at all and didn't finish eating. I wish they would cook onion and green peppers with their sweet and sour chicken as just the battered chicken pieces and sauce don't offer enough variety in taste. Their sesame chicken I did not like at all and threw away after a couple of bites as it just wasn't what I like in sesame chicken.
The hot and sour soup is solid and I enjoy it as well. Give it a shot though you probably have different tastes than me, but definitely try the Szechuan chicken. It's my go to place...
Read more0/10 do not recommend TL;DR - They'll argue with you and call you names, and you don't even get orange chicken out of it.
Placed a delivery order online. The default selection is Pick-up, and I can't do that, so I changed it to delivery. We've been ordering delivery from there for a while, and always order delivery. When they used the previous app for orders, there was no problem, but they changed over to some robin-whatever site, and last time there was an issue, too, but it ended up fine.
This time, however, did not go well. I placed my order, leaving instructions for the driver on how to get into our complex, and including a tip for him, too. The guy that delivers the food is always so nice. Welp, I get a call, and when I call back, the woman tells me that my food is ready. Um, ok? When will it be here?
She insists it's for pickup. I explain that I've even included instructions and a tip for the driver. Whyyyyy would I do that for a pickup order?? Well she refused to deliver the order, refused to refund the order (I can't go get it), called my husband crazy, and hung up in him. Sigh, all we wanted was some lo-mein, dude, not a phone fight. I'm going to miss that delivery driver, but I'm definitely never ordering from there again. The food was OK, but not ok...
