Saturday afternoon and the Hyderabadi Goat Dum Biryani was on the "low-moisture" side with the overnight stale signature. The meat was tender and the pieces were just undersized as served in any unassuming restaurant. The aromatic flavor in the rice was lost. Mercifully the hot spices were not tastelessly overdosed. Most budget restaurants feel that it is their duty to serve stale biryani because the previous night's preparation cannot be wasted by alternate disposition arrangements. Perhaps management should be a little forthcoming with honest disclosure since it is their flagship entree.
The Beef Shami Kabab was nostalgic except for the shape. Again, the spices (a non-Hyderabadi here) were sufficient to to ensure that it will be a frequent order.
The Beef "Sheekh" Kabab had an unexpected appearance. No complaints with the fine minced meat but the absence of charcoal grilling was definitely a disappointment. True, skewers were used but to what effect pencil-like rods had on the chosen grilling method is open for interpretation.
There is a Lunchtime Buffet during weekdays for those wishing to sample a few more of the entrees from the limited menu. The costs are kept low by intent but for those wishing to explore a richer variety of Hyderabadi classics the options aren't present for now.
Update: Went for the weekday lunch buffet (starts at Noon) and the food was definitely much better but more importantly great value for a weekday lunch.
The Nihari may leave some folks unsatisfied owing to the absence of what I consider unhealthy ingredients but I feel that it allows one to set aside some room to partake in the other buffet items in healthy quantities.
Unexpected pleasure in finding a fish preparation and glad that it wasn't a token fried offering.
The Biryani was with Chicken 65 (or 66). I don't know what the number represents and I settled in the diaspora long before this type of chicken dish became vogue. The Biryani nevertheless was much better than the previous experience.
The Chicken dishes were equally good and so too was the Naan. There was a side dish, classic Hyderabadi not overtly spicy despite its name - nice touch again for those with limited access to such cuisine. The Gulab Jamun could've been just a little softer inside "says the sweet tooth man."
The state of the unisex restroom during opening time leaves a...
Read moreUpdate : It was my Dad’s 75th birthday in May 2025. So, I was visiting many restaurants along with my dad to choose for catering. I also took my dad to Nizams Biryaniwala and Bhagyasri who is the restaurant manager was kind enough to provide some tastings when she overheard us discussing the tastes and party. And my dad really loved the food so much that he selected them for catering. Bhagya promised that she won’t disappoint us and she didn’t. She gave us better deal than other restaurants and also was there personally to deliver and set up the tables and food at the party. Family came from Canada, CA, NY , NJ , PA , GA and they were blown away by the taste. We also provided snacks like Pakoda, Vada , small samosas for church and they were brilliant. Manager got few order at church right then by few church members for their party. And many asked for the contact details of the restaurant. Thank you Bhagya for keeping your promise and making my dad’s birthday a successful and memorable one for us. You were proactive in communicating and helping me throughout. 🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏻 I would recommend the restaurant for any of your families parties be it big or small without fear and I promise you all that they will not disappoint you. We ordered Mutton and Chicken Hyd Biryani 🤤🤤, Hyd red dum chicken, bagara baigan , fish fry 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻, butter chicken, gajar ka halwa, double ka meeta 😍, butter naan. Bendi Fry 👌🏻👌🏻 which was the highlight of all and was a clean sweep 😄
It’s been 8 years in Richardson … After a long time I throughly enjoyed the food. We for fried rice chicken fry and dalcha combo. They were phenomenal. Dal cha and fry tasted like homemade and full of flavor. Loved the hyd mutton biryani . It was flavorful and reminded me of Hyderabad biryani taste. This was my first visit and certainly won’t be my last. I found my favorite place now. Hopefully the taste and quality remains so and they won’t change. I can do away with Quantity(not too bad) if they won’t...
Read moreUPDATE: came here today with my family. This place truly is no longer what it was….I was the first to review them when they opened and today they were terrible. We walk in with zero acknowledgement…..tables are disgusting so I’m cleaning my own table and there some guy is bartering some deal. The menu is completely crumpled. We place the order - butter chicken, migrations and the mixed grill plate - every item we request for the mixed grill plate we are told it’s not available. So we get up to leave…and the guy is like we started on your order - we have the naan going. We offered to pay for the naan and the guy was like it’s ok! Why not tell us ahead of time what you don’t have as you give us a crumpled up menu???!!!! Oh the kicker you have to pay $1 extra for free sizzling…. Like really!!! Extremely disappointed.
Was craving good Pakistani food tonight....came across this wonderful little place. We ordered Chapli kabab, keema naan, nihari and beef biryani. Growing up on this type of food I have forever been on the hunt for a good nihari with the closest being at Al Markaz but this nihari finally dethroned Al Markaz which is the only nihari I have enjoyed for the past 15 years. It was as close to Pakistani nihari as it comes - unlike most around here it was not heavy on the flour in the nihari. The rest of the food was delicious and the portions were huge....my husband and I ate a little of everything and ended up coming home with 2 additional meals that will serve four from the leftovers. Staff was super friendly and prompt! Everyone had a smile - definitely not your typical Pakistani service you see at near by restaurants....my new favorite...
