I don't know where everyone else went because my experience was totally the opposite. Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences in Plano. Over priced and under valued. Red wine served chilled (tasted awful) and table water served at room temperature with no ice. And then a waitress that tried to tell us that it was just the way it had to be because the wine was served on tap from a keg (if you can't serve it correctly then don't get it from a keg!!!). No soda on tap (pet peeve of mine as I don't drink, and I really don't like paying $3+ for a can of coke!). Over-priced starters that were no better than average. The waitress made a big deal of their crust and ingredients. It tasted weird, like sourdough. But I read a review here that it was indeed sourdough, so I wish I'd ordered something else. Caesar salad was also mediocre. Overall, I'd recommend voting with your feet and just going over the road to Kenny's Pizza.
Update after owner's post: Apparently the owner didn't read my review as he seems to think its just a case of "we all like different things". Apart from the taste of sourdough pizza dough, this couldn't be further from the truth.
You DON"T serve red wine chilled. It kills the flavor. If getting it from a keg only allows it to be served chilled, then stop getting it in kegs!!! You DON'T try to spin a lie about wine in a keg just because it saves YOU money (which by the way you are not passing on in any way to the customer at those prices). You DO serve table water chilled and with ice. At least in Texas! And glasses so small I would have finished in 3-4 mouthfuls - IF is hadn't been WARM!!! Serving coke in a can is just a plain RIPOFF! And I presume refills wouldn't have been free. (Just as an aside, this is about a 10-12x markup on what you would pay for a can of coke from the store. Typical markup for a bottle of wine is about 3-4x. Yes, soda on tap is an even bigger markup but you get larger glasses and free refills almost everywhere). VERY over-priced appetizers.
Again, VERY poor value. Vote with your feet like we did. Tried Kenny's again and its fine, as well as having some of the best garlic bread in town.
I think the owner must be giving up on trying to address...
Read moreWhile I can say that I highly recommend Pie Tap itself, I must specify that it's great for dine-in, but one star for to-go. I'm practically a regular here between going with my family /friends and my coworkers. Additionally, I have a weekly obligation nearby that compels me to order to-go food every Saturday or Sunday. I've noticed a really disappointing pattern when it comes to my eating there versus ordering to-go. The food is hands down 5-stars. Never had anything that wasn't mouthwatering. But the value leaves something to be desired. I've ordered the pepperelli bolognese twice - once there, once to-go. When I ordered it there, I had to ask for to go container. When I ordered it to-go there was hardly anything in the to go container - see pictures. For $20, I wanted to see how much I was getting and I actually measured it on my food scale. Barely over 12 oz. 12 oz of pasta for $20. Not worth it! I've experienced the same thing with other entrees (dine-in vs. to-go), but this was the first time I had photograph of proof to prove it. Don't miss your opportunity at sampling the delectable menu at Pie Tap (although I learned tonight that they discontinued the one and only hamburger they have the menu. Why? Why? I'll never understand it. Especially when they still offer other options with the same beef?? I think they literally must be the only restaurant now to not offer a hamburger on their menu), so just make sure that you eat there, and you don't sit at the bar, order a drink, and order something to go. It's a waste of money....

My friend and I wanted to try this place out because we've heard really good things about it. We were seated and given menus. We look through the menu and both decided what we wanted to eat so we put the menus down and waited... a little bit of time goes by and someone finally comes to our table. He looks at us and goes "I assume you guys are ready to order... etc." (He didn't even bring us water) I tell him my drink and my food order and so does my friend.
We get our food and ended up finishing both our plates, all 3 drinks (2 waters and a tea) were empty and we sit there for another 15, maybe 20 minutes and our server FINALLY came to our table and hands us our tab... didn't ask if we needed anything else. He just gave us our tabs and expected us to pay. We told him that we wanted dessert also so we ordered. About 20 minutes later, we finally got our dessert and started eating. As we were wrapping up on dessert, he brings us our tab and walks off and is nowhere to be found. Our cups were empty again and we wait another 15 to 20 minutes.
At this point, I was beyond frustrated so I got up and walked to front to talk to a hostess and she gets our server and we finally left.
Update: We came back to give this place another try. Becca was our server this time and she was absolutely amazing along with the food. We tried other things on the menu this time and everything was delicious.
Will be...
