This was our first and LAST visit to this establishment! We were a party of six adults in our 50's & 60's. We had dinner, desert and 2 bottles of red wine, and I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio because I don't like red wine. The food and waitstaff were very good. We ate, paid (tipped well) then transitioned to their bar area to listen to the piano player. We brought with us the left-over red wine and I had some wine left in my glass too. After 30 minutes or so we asked the bartender for one glass of white wine & a glass of Porto, but were informed she was told by her manager not to serve us. We were embarrassed and confused since no one in our group was intoxicated or acting inappropriately. It felt like we were being discriminated against for simply having fun with friends and speaking a foreign language. As we headed out, we asked to speak with that manager - we felt he owed us an explanation. Unfortunately, we didn't get one. Instead, the "manager" who came out behaved rudely, loud and kept screaming in our faces, literally screaming in our faces. When asked why he told the bartender not to serve us, he screamed; "because I can!" And when asked the question again, he approached even closer using his large size body frame as a intimidation tactic, I guess, repeating the previous statement and adding, "get the hell out of here and never come back!" His body language, and loud tone of voice suggested there was a good chance this could turn into a physical alteration on his part. So we quickly stepped outside. Personally, never in my life have I felt so humiliated, dehumanized and belittled. We were not some drunks acting obnoxiously and disrupting the ambiance. Whatever the reasons were they handled it very poorly. What a disgrace and poor representation of this restaurant. ...and I just want to add that with a little research I've discovered that "Mr." STEVE FIELDS himself was actually there. He stood right behind this so called "manager." Obviously in support of his nasty, rude language and behavior towards us. I'm in total disbelieve, even more so now and my only regret is not to have caught all this on video, as I'm sure many will pass judgement, even more so now (since I mentioned owner being there), that we were probably acting inappropriately - but that just simply was not...
Read moreWhile sitting at a hotel bar, in the Midwest of all places, I met a fellow Texan. This wise, older gentleman, told me, quite confidently, "Go to Steve Fields!" He also grinned, and said aside from the great food, it's known as "Cougar City." I was amused with this guy, but pegged him as someone who knew fine food...and women!
Fast forward about a year later, I told the wife that we're going to Steve Fields. She {perplexed look on face} said "What the hell is Steve Fields?" I said trust me- this place is going to be good!
When we were seated, the wife immediately laughed and commented that we were the youngest people in the restaurant. (Remember "Cougar City?") We could care less about the ages of fellow patrons, as we delved into the menu. For our entrees we opted for the following: Wife had the surf & turf (6 oz. filet with a 6 oz. Australian lobster tail), and I went with the sea bass, and scallops as an add on. For our app, we went with the lobster mashed potatoes. The sea bass and scallops were some of the best I've had. The wife's filet was superb, with excellent favor. But, the winner was the wife's lobster. We both raved that it was, hands down, the best lobster tail we've ever had. The only minor letdown- the lobster mashed potatoes were average, at best.
I addition to the really good food, Steve Fields has an excellent wine, and liquor selection. The service, as with most restaurants of this caliber, was spot on, and professional. When leaving, we did peek in the bar. And yes, it was a colorful environment, with lots of very attractive "older" women, that freely advertised for their plastic surgeons.

Read moreAs a customer, I recently had a negative experience at Steve and Fields when my request for an extra glass to share a taste of my wine with my teenager was denied. In an effort to teach my child about wine tasting and appreciation, I had hoped to offer a small sip for educational purposes. Unfortunately, the general manager refused my request and appeared visibly disturbed when he saw that I had allowed my teenager to taste my wine from my own glass.
The situation escalated when the general manager approached our table wearing a black apron, not even introducing himself and demanded that we leave the restaurant immediately due to my actions. Despite the fact that minors are allowed to consume alcohol in the presence of their parent or guardian, the manager's reaction was both inappropriate and unacceptable. After this incident the server “Nolan” wasn’t able to hold a conversation about the topic and responded on my question as “let me just call a manager “ and another manager showed up “Jeff” to apologize for all the unnecessary drama, saying it was Mr. Steve Fields rules, and listening and talking with more experience that any other in that place. As a result of this unfortunate experience, I will be leaving a negative review of the restaurant in question. It is my belief that the behavior demonstrated by the general manager and the server reflects poorly on the establishment as a whole. It is my hope that by sharing my experience, other customers will be better informed and able to make an informed decision about...
