My husband brought me here for my birthday dinner, a special date night. Sadly, we both left very disappointed.
TL/DR: Crickets inside & outside of restaurant. Beware of the two-top tables in the small pathways, constant people walking by & bumping into you. GET RID OF THESE TABLES. Food is tasty, but not filling.
I'll start with the positives: The inside of the restaurant has a nice ambience. The food was tasty, which is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1.
Now, what caused us to not enjoy the evening/experience: The outside was surrounded with crickets. My husband had to walk several feet in front of me to clear the path. I was wearing heels & a short skirt, not really cricket-fighting outfit. Plus, not a good way to start a romantic celebration. Then we were at a two top in what can only be described as a walkway. It led from the main dining area to the patio/bar/POS. My husband was knocked into at least twice & I was hit in the shoulder & face with a purse. Plus, with the POS right next to us, there was a constant stream of workers right there. GET RID OF THIS TABLE. There is no reason there should be a table there except for greed. Next, as we were waiting for our food, a cricket appeared on the wall next to us that came out from behind the decor. It startled me. I had to worry about this cricket possibly jumping on me or our table. I couldn't be in the moment with my hubs. Finally, I walked over to the bar to get someone who could take care of it. Thankfully, one of the young ladies was able to capture it & take it outside with the rest of its cricket friends. Lastly, make sure you are fully aware of what a traditional French soufflé is. This was more on us, we didn't realize it was basically egg white fluff with finely grated ingredients. There's other places that have their American version, which is more filling. Again, what we were served was very tasty, but we both left hungry. I would also recommend that the restaurant writes descriptions on the menu for each savory soufflé. We had to ask our waitress which ingredients were in each one, which she didn't explain well at all. For example one she said had chipotles, but it ended up being a chipotle mayo sauce, not actual peppers. This brings a different flavor...
Read moreFrom a former Dallas resident to a now Frisco resident- I cannot express how excited I was to see a new Rise location MUCH closer than that long drive south to Dallas. And might I dare say… I prefer this Rise over the original! The atmosphere is still very much similar to the original location in Dallas however interesting enough, even with the additional room to breathe, they’ve still captured that homey, warm, comforting vibe without the dark cavernous and cramped feel of Dallas. I love that there’s an enclosed patio that allows all the sunshine and goodness for patio lovers to dine in comfort. There’s a very secluded and seductive room toward the back called the “wax room” with one wall made entirely of bees wax, which would be perfect for intimate group get togethers and celebrations. Seating that allows for guests to watch the glorious and special technique of the dessert soufflés being prepped. Unlike Dallas… this location has much more seating available at the bar that allows a full view of the restaurant and all the guests dining. The food was absolutely on par, cheese platter with perfectly selected cheeses that were all lovely but I must say the goat cheese was the star of the show. Escargot main soufflé was delicious as always and the fresh loafs of bread were definitely a must to soak up all the garlicky and basil pesto goodness. For dessert, we normally stick to chocolate however that seasonal key lime was way too tempting to pass up and it was indeed every bit of the zesty goodness that we were hoping it would be. Our waiter Matthew was very attentive and super pleasant during our meal. He made sure our waters were filled the whole time, cleared plates to make room on the table, and was engaged in the menu making very thoughtful recommendations. Pete the GM was very involved with his staff, visiting tables, helping behind the bar, and making sure everything was running smoothly and seamlessly. Over all I would say now that we have a Rise up here… I’ll probably be asking my husband to take me much more frequently than we would down in Dallas and I definitely think this new location makes a perfect date night or place to celebrate a...
Read moreMy friend and I went as it was our birthdays. I called ahead of time as I had never been here to see what they did for birthdays. The lady on the phone informed me that they put scrabble letters on the table, saying happy birthday and also they give you a free souffle with a candle. So I happily made my reservation with her for the next day. My friend drove from 6 hours away to celebrate our birthdays, so I wanted it to be very special.
When we got there and were seated at the table, the server informed us that I had to have a coupon for free souffle. I was very embarrased in front of my friend as I had already gotten her, excited about the birthday souffle. We proceeded to order. I got the crab souffle, which was a special for $28. My friend got the escargo souffle. My crab souffle was dry, extremely flavorless, with no visible signs of crab meat, only small little flakes. Also, it was maybe the size of the palm of my hand. I was extremely underwhelmed as it tasted like something. I can get from the freezer section at Walmart. I thought it would come with some kind of cream sauce with lumps of crab meat that I could pour over the top or something. But no. It was so plain. I tasted my friend's escargo souffle, which was slightly better, but still very underwhelming.
We held out our hopes for the birthday souffle, which was a special item off a menu. It came highly recommended by the server. It was a pumpkin souffle. This was probably the best out of the 3 souffles, but I would give it a 5 out of 10 at most. It was just a souffle that was flavored of pumpkin. There were no different textures. No Wow moments. I would not go back to this restaurant due to the food being very, very bland and unimaginative. However, it is cute in its decor and theme.
I tried to cheer my friend up after with massages bc I felt bad about the lunch. I feel like I...
