Velvet Taco Plano — Restaurant in Plano

First time trying Velvet Taco after always hearing great things about other locations. Waited about 15 minutes past the set pick up time for cold food. The only taco that was good was the brisket taco, which I will say was outstanding. But the pulled pork taco with Fresno’s was not good, the shrimp and grits taco was so insanely salty it was inedible so I gave up, and the rotisserie chicken taco was not impressive either. Keep in mind all of this was pretty cold. The brisket nachos are a complete rip off, hardly any brisket on them. And if you don’t listen to any of my advice and still try these things, at least listen to this last recommendation: do NOT get the red velvet cake. It was so disappointing. The cream cheese frosting was ruined by being made like normal vanilla frosting that is 90% sugar instead of making the cream cheese stand out and be the main focus. Dessert is my absolute favorite and this fell so flat for me.

Not worth the hype at all. At least this location isn’t. I called the manager after the fact just to ask that the tip I paid in advance online be refunded since it wasn’t deserved after waiting so long, and he made zero efforts to retain my business or make it right in any way, shape, or form. He didn’t ask about my experience or anything. And I just hope y’all know, Velvet Taco, the cost to gain a new customer is more expensive than the cost to retain one you already have. You could’ve offered to make it right but the indifference lost you a potential loyal customer and gained you this less than stellar review. Update: Aug 1st week They did respond and made an attempt to correct. We went by on a weekend and found things have been better than before. Hope it stays the same.

Update:07/11 We reached out to the email as the owner responded, zero response from them till now. Not sure if anyone whom they responded to the reviews ever got a response after they emailed. It looks as though they are trying to solve concern by responding timely on the reviews asking to email the details which looks as though they are showing serious concern to the negative feedback but just never cares about responding back again on what they are doing to solve these concerns.

We have been a regular visitor to Velvet tacos at all the locations in the DFW area. Infact we even knocked doors on this location, by looking the lights on while they were training folks before even they were about to open for public. It has been that favourite and we did enjoy coming biweekly to this place.

It seems like the motive is to offer generous quantity on the opening few days and then gradually reduce the quantity. No doubt about the quality, it's great but quantity seriously for a price of $5 ?

We order fried paneers. It looked like today they ran out of paneers and tried to manage with last leftovers. The quantity was that bad.

I placed an online order for the first time for pickup and although the process was easy enough I mistakenly chose the wrong tacos. While placing my order I did not notice the GF beside the taco. Well when I go to pick up my order and get home I noticed my taco was lettuce wrapped hence GF. I had to go back on the website to see how I made that mistake and it was my fault. Well I did not want GF tacos and so I drove back to see if I can have it changed.

Rebecca the manger in duty was gracious enough to have it changed even though it was my mistake. I was willingly to pay it but she declined and this proves customer service does not have to be a battle. I admitted my mistake she corrected it for me.

Side Note: the young lady at the front register needs to be a little more friendly and welcoming. She not rude just not friendly. I know it’s late and I’m pretty sure she was ready to leave but a warm smile...
