Visited here on the 10th of Sept 2017 for dinner with 3 of my friends based on a friend's recommendation. The food was good but the service was so bad that it made our entire experience unpleasant to say the least.
So we ordered a family size chicken biriyani, butter chicken masala and paneer tikka masala among the other things including starters. After a fairly long wait, first to arrive was the veg entrée of paneer butter masala and the bread ordered as it was told to us as it was placed on our table. But we had in fact ordered paneer tikka masala and then clarified with the waiter. The waiter checked with the kitchen and then confirmed that it was in fact paneer tikka masala. Then came the non veg entrée of butter chicken masala but that was more of a chicken tikka masala, I suspect a mix up of the two gravies in our order. Only after the two entrées did the appetizers find its way to our table. I feel getting the ordering of courses of a meal right is one of the basics of restaurant service. Next was the chicken biriyani. It looked really appetizing but soon we realized that it had no chicken pieces in it. That's right, a chicken biriyani without even a single whole piece of chicken was what we were served, pathetic! Upon bringing it to the waiter's notice it was checked with the kitchen and they took it back and cooked us another chicken biriyani and brought it out, thereby again keeping us waiting unnecessarily. This one had multiple chicken pieces. Also no explanation was given to us regarding the goof up from the waiter or the restaurant management leaving us to believe that they just tried to pass off the veg biriyani with some shredded chicken thrown in as chicken biriyani and hoped that we did not notice it because it was towards the end of the day.
All that said, food was good but then I don't see myself going back here because of the kind of service we got on that night. I would suggest a delivery or take out of you REALLY WANT TO eat here.
Thanks...
Read moreVery pleasant service makes a return visit highly probable. The pakoras arrived in a timely manner but perhaps we weren't clear that we wanted mixed veg. Not an issue but simply a reminder to myself to ennunciate clearly. Nevertheless, the pakoras were clearly good but the consistent spherical size was a new experience (some variation towards South Asian hush puppies?).
The sweet Lassi was just right for me but others would have preferred a tad sweeter and thicker. Mercifully there was no crushed ice to dilute the taste with time.
The Chana Bhatura arrived (again very timely) with over abundant Chana but the two Bhatura pieces had two different shades of brown (multitasking chef?). The accompaniment was basic red onion and a lime wedge. Some pickle and and an extra lime wedge would have been. I have been having Chaat quality Chana Bhatura lately and this serving was clearly in a higher class.
The Gongura Goat Curry was good but the accompanying Naan was challenged by the extra seconds of exposure in the oven. It remains debatable to slice the the Naan when accompanying an Entree - for buffet it is perfectly understandable but for an Entree my preference would be NO. Another personal pet peeve is that most kitchens do not makes an effort during preparation to eliminate the nascent smell of goat meat. Some kitchens don't know how to do it, some knowingly don't bother for some dishes (presumably marinade is not in the recipe).
We were reluctant to try any Biryani not because of the abundant choices but on account of our previous experiences under similar circumstances elsewhere when Spicy Fried Rice Mix was being passed off as Biryani۔ Then again reheated "Biryani" is easily detectable from the condition of the rice.
In short, the place offers good food and better service. Challenges with expectations are universal. I recommend it...
Read moreClean place,Good food and better service. Little on the pricey side. $9.99 for smallish midum size plate of chicken 65! was good by the way.
Definitely will go back and recommend people to go try Wild Mirchi at Plano.
Keep on reading if you like more detail. :)
Took a lokng break from reviewing restaurants. Went to Wild Mirchi yesterday for lunch with coworkers. I have to come back and leave a review. We ordered chicken 65, Hyderabadi chicken, Lamb curry with 3 nan, and biryani(togo). Servers were really nice. Management can be seen doing their best to keep the customer happy, this makes you wanna go back before you are done with your current meal.
Chicken 65 came first. I order chicken 65 where ever I go, so i can attest even though this is not the best of best i have had, it was reaaallyyy good. Love the spice and little tangy taste to it. However I have to mention whatever the amount I got is little too pricey for me. $9.99 for that small plate!. Won't be ordering that again even though it is good.
Lamb curry: Compared to your regular indian curry, lamb chunks were little smaller size wise, but I personally loved it that way.
Naan felt more like Chapati roti than nan roti.
Despite me finding few disagreement on food and price...weirdly every thing was really good.
Management seems to have change recently so they were super nice and cheerful (this is must in resturant business as grumpy servers ruins anyone's mood and make food taste grumpy too). Thumbs up.
So am still planning to go back to try their other item in menu.
Thank for...
