Updated rating: Today I went to Burnt Bbq & Tacos for lunch. I had been there before and while I liked the flavor of most everything that time, the brisket was underwhelming. They convinced me to give them another try so I did that today and I was very impressed! I got the sampler, which consisted of brisket, pulled pork, pork belly burnt ends, spare ribs, poblano sausage, and fried chicken in place of the turkey that is next to impossible to get right now. I got jalapeño citrus slaw and mac ‘n cheese for the sides. The sides were great and I found my new favorite coleslaw (yes, that’s a thing). The brisket definitely redeemed itself from last time. The coffee isn’t my favorite thing for a bark, but the meat itself had a great flavor, was very tender, and had great juiciness. It was smoked perfectly. My only complaint is that the ribs could have been cooked a little longer. They were just a little bit tough, but not horrible. Even with that, they might have been my favorite thing on the plate because they tasted so good! Not only was the food great, but the gentlemen who waited on me provided great service and made me feel right at home, even taking the time to talk about some of the patches they have on their wall. If you’re looking for bbq in Plano, they’re worth your time. I’ll be back! Prior rating: I have mixed feelings about this place. First, it’s cool to see a Border Patrol patch this far from the border. These guys make some great pulled pork and their poblano sausage was pretty good too. I was really looking forward to the brisket since I’ve never had coffee ground brisket. Sadly, despite getting the point/moist/fatty cut, it was very bland, tough, and dry. The ribs and pork belly burnt ends had some awesome flavor, but were also pretty dry. My wife liked their elotes and their fries were pretty good. The popular dish seems to be their Navajo Fry Bread, so we’ll probably come back sometime to try that, but it certainly didn’t make the “must return” list for the bbq.

First of all this review is not about food taste or quality. This review is all about service and employee attitude. I called in on a Tuesday to order a family meal to be picked up on Sunday Christmas Eve. A gentlemen took my order and said it would be ready at 1PM. I offered to pay, and he stated that I can pay when I pick up. I arrived on Sunday at 1PM and found that the order was never entered by the guy I talked with on the phone. The manager Pete happened to overhear the conversation I was having with the staff member behind the counter and he asked when I called and I told him Tuesday and he said..oh yeah that was probably Tim. Pete seemed very nonchalant about the whole thing, and it seemed like this sort of thing happened all the time. They said I can order now and it would take about 20 minutes to get it prepared. I ordered and paid, and I asked Pete why this person Tim wouldn’t be efficient and put in my order over the phone (as I was very pressed for time and this was unexpected and now I was behind all the other orders placed) Pete told me I really don’t know…but “we don’t discriminate over the phone”. I looked at him astonished that this would come out of his mouth, and I believe he noticed cause he then offered me a tea while I waited. I declined, waited for my food, and left. I was very perturbed about the entire experience and have decided, regardless of food taste or quality I will not be returning to this establishment.

After talking with Tim the owner, I feel perfectly satisfied with our talk on the phone. This was probably a one off situation that occurred because of the holidays and possibly holiday staff. At the time of my review, I was pretty hot about the situation, but I am now satisfied with the experience. By the way…as always the food was fantastic! Thank you Tim for your quick response. Look forward to seeing my wallet again….left in such a huff I forgot it..thanks for taking care of...

I was going to order this from doordash but wanted to enjoy it, in person. I'm an idiot though and got there 30 minutes before close. I used to work in food service, so i got the food to go. I know the feeling of working then some foofus comes in right before close. I'm not that guy. ANYWAY...i got the two meat plate (brisket and sausage) and added a 3rd (burnt ends). Got the slaw and the potato salad and two Dr Peppers from Dublin with the original sugar formula. Best dadgum meal I've had in ages. No joke. Not a paid advertisement. I don't know the owner. The bbq was moist, super moist. Great flavor. The threw in some little cups of bbq sauce but it wasn't needed at all. The sausage, not greasy. Great flavor. Burnt ends were the bbq stars. Ill get a two meat plate next time and double up on these bad boys. The potato salad was good to. Good chunks that were fully cooked, yet not mushy. The star, the home run... as good as the meat was, i was blown away by the flavor of the slaw. Well balanced, tender slaw. Not crunchy, not mushy from the dressing. I live 6.3 miles (i know only because i saw them on doordash) but i can see myself making the drive often. Thoroughly recommend. Oh... and the First Responder wall didn't bother me at all. Unsure why that was even a thing for one customer. Maybe a jazz quartet for the more "sensitive" customers? I don't know... anyway... this place is badass. Making its mark against big name competition, you can tell this place values quality over the feed em and move on businesses like hard8...
