Came here on Valentine’s Day and it was packed (as expected). I was told my to go order would take 20 minutes and I ended up waiting over an hour for it. While most people there were irritated, bugging the workers, which I can understand it. There were people crowding around all the workers, shoving phones in their faces checking on their orders. But looking around, I saw one server taking care of all the tables in there by herself. Running around, clearly overwhelmed. One girl working on to go’s and one girl who I think is the manager who ended up helping the chefs put meals together. Long story short, I wanted to give this place the kudos they deserve. I can understand where people are probably frustrated with the service, but I just wanted to say all the employees’ hard work did not go unnoticed. At the end of the day, we’re all there for the same thing. I went home and we enjoyed some of the best sushi ever and they definitely did not let the quality slip even on a stressful night. Keep the great work up!

This sushi place is a hidden gem in Plano! My partner and I live down the road from here and decided to pop-in and check it out. We had low expectations because it's in a strip mall and you can't tell much about the place from the outside. As soon as we walked in, we were impressed with how chic and comfortable it was on the inside. The past two times we went here, I got the Sushi and Sashimi Bento Box (my apologies for a pic of only half of it, I was hungry!). If you are a fish lover, this bento will not disappoint. Also, it was so much food I couldn't quite finish it; not bad for $18. The first time I went here I got the Snow Mountain roll. It is a must try! This place also has exceptional service. It seems like a family owned place with a very attentive and speedy staff. They are usually super busy and they do an excellent job keeping up with everything. If you are a sushi lover, give this place a shot!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Sakana, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The highlight of my meal was undeniably the salmon and tuna belly sashimi. The freshness and quality of the fish were simply outstanding. Each piece melted in my mouth, delivering a burst of flavor that was both delicate and rich. The presentation was also beautiful, reflecting the care and attention to detail that the chefs put into every dish. Aside from the amazing sashimi, the overall dining experience was fantastic. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the menu offered a great variety of options to cater to every palate. If you're a sashimi lover like me, or even if you're just looking for an exceptional dining experience, I highly recommend Sushi Sakana. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I came here with my Mom for her birthday lunch. We were the only ones in the place for a while, (it was a Thursday between lunch and dinner, so makes sense) but let me just describe what an INCREDIBLE experience we had overall at Sakana.

I don't know if I've ever been this happy during and after leaving a restaurant! To start, it's such a cute, quaint place with lovely decor. Very comfortable seats. We had miso soup which was delicious, followed by the beef pan seared gyoza for an appetizer. Then we shared 3 rolls of sushi. We had the shaggy dog which was the perfect ratio of crunchy and smooth textures, the wild Alaskan roll which was so creamy and delicious, and the winner was the Caribbean roll, WOW! My mom described that one as "a delightful joyride" and I laughed at that description, but after tasting it too, yup that makes perfect sense!

We were already extremely happy with this place and decided it would be our new sushi spot when unexpectedly our server brought us this cute little ice cream sandwich dessert made from little wafers and a thin layer of strawberry jam. The wafers had this cute scallop pattern like a mermaid tail, so now we call those "mermaid ice cream sandwiches".

Oh and it's not over! After then learning it was my mom's birthday our server said, "oh I will do something special!!" (As if the ice cream wasn't special enough!!) And then she brought us their homemade from scratch MANGO CHEESECAKE. I'm unsure if God himself can make a better cheesecake than this, it was literally the best I've ever had!! And THEN she proceeded to sing my mother happy birthday oh my goodness!! The name on our receipt was Zulle, I don't know if that was her name or someone else's, but THANK YOU SO MUCH Sakana Sushi for making my mom's birthday lunch so so SO special, and memorable, and just above and BEYOND all expectation. I never write long reviews like this, but this entire experience was so beautiful and wonderful, I must share. We...

The food is hit or miss. I have been here multiple times. I have found that either the food is good or not-so-good. The service has been consistently poor. I will go as far as to say that this may very well be the worst service that I have ever encountered at any sushi eatery. During my last visit, I entered and waited quite a while before being acknowledged and seated. By the time the rude employee did decide to open her mouth and say something, she yells across the restaurant, "You here for Uber Eats?!?" Uh, no...I am just waiting for you to tell me where to sit, standard stuff, you know?

As if that weren't bad enough, the rude girl ended up being my waitress as well. Great. She went out of her way to make it known that for some reason she didn't want to serve me. Another waitress stops by and asks why I was there by myself..? As if that matters? What, did I cause them to miss the opportunity to ignore not just me, but my entire party?

Moving along, for the trifecta they forgot one of my sushi rolls and brought it over just as I was about to wrap up and get the hell out of the joint. So, mediocre food (sometimes), obnoxious behavior, and bad service? Noted.

I'd rather pay to eat out...

This place has the best sushi rice. It might feel silly to start by complimenting the rice, but it is the base of the dish. And just like a great pizza must have an amazing crust, so great sushi has to have amazing rice. This rice had a delightful texture and just the right amount of vinegar to complement the fish as well as holding its form when held by chopsticks. It was an absolute pleasure to eat and I would have happily eaten an entire bowl of this rice. Now to the fish and the rolls. The fish is well portioned and high quality. The salmon is super buttery, and the fatty tuna is a luxury experience for the mouth. The rolls are fun and inventive with well balanced flavors. The service here is top notch. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Even the chef at the bar made sure we were happy even though we were not sitting there. This is now a regular date night spot for my husband and I. We recently tried the yakisoba and udon noodle dishes and we're blown away, yet again. The udon was fat and chewy (as it should be) with a comforting broth and the yakisoba had fresh grilled veggies and tender beef without being ever...
