TLDR: the new york crust is great, it's pretty pricey but their in house flavors were not great. I would do the queen which is sauce, mozeralla and basil because their combos all fell flat for us and in the Sicilian tastes like burnt cheese.
Heard great things, but probably won't be back. We wanted to try several options as we attempted to try this restaurant three times before and could never find parking.
It takes some time for the Sicilian, but it took almost just as long for our appetizer to come out. The place was freezing, and we struggled to eat most of the items with the space we had.
We tried the burrata toast, which was $19 for 4 slices. We enjoyed the fresh tomatoes but craved more of the balsamic glaze on the plate that was mostly swirled around the plate and not on the actual food itself (that was the best part). You needed to assemble it yourself and it was very very difficult to eat. It was tasty, but pricey and hard to eat.
The tables are small, the pizza is big, it was really difficult to dive in. We got two pizzas, both half and half with one of each type of crust so we could get an idea of the faves there. The new york style crust was probably the best pizza crust I've ever had. That being said, not one of the 4 pizzas types we tried as far as toppings go would be on my reorder list. The combos sounded great but the pizza itself for the Sicilian tastes like the burnt cheese on a lasagna, and after one bite of each bite type we didn't really want anymore of it. We both left with our mouths sore from the dense crispy Sicilian crust (almost like a focaccia bread) and saltiness of the toppings.
The elotes was the top of the flavors we tried, but it needed more corn in our opinion, with all of these we were wanting something more contrast. The alla vodka was our lowest ranking, it was overpowered by the fried kale topping. The toppings were kinda one note in the combinations. If you do try it, I would go with "the queen" that's just simple and classic which would pair great with their beautiful new your crust. The more adventurous flavors were disappointing, and for two pizzas and an appetizer, plus waters the bill plus tip was $100. We left with the left overs that neither of us wanted but felt we had to finish off the "investment."
We ate it for lunch the next day, I had one bite of each and threw it out. We thought the Sicilian might be softer after sitting in the fridge overnight but didn't care for...

If you're looking for a thin crust New York style pizza or Sicilian style pizza, this is the place you need to try.
Menu items pictured in post includes pizzas New York State of Mind, Bee Sting, Elote and Rosted Wild Mushrooms & Fried Kale.
Establishment is small but super cozy and lively. Service is better than most Places You'll Find in the Quad Cities. Thank you Mo for creating such an awesome environment with great service. Some might say the prices are a little high but the price reflects the quality and taste of the food. Portion sizes are very generous.
Parking is a bit Limited, restrooms are extremely clean and overall establishment is very Lively and cozy. This is my first time eating here and I have to go back to try the Sicilian style pizza according to Mo. I'll be back in a few weeks.
Updating my previous post now that I got the opportunity to try the Sicilian style pizza. Now having the Sicilian style pizza this place has cemented for me the best pizza in the Quad Cities. As an FYI to anyone reading, I would highly recommend getting there early or calling ahead to order for pickup the sicilian-style pizza as he only makes so many per day until he runs out which is typically very quickly. Probably one of the better Sicilian style pizzas I've had and whatever the crust consists of, I was happy that I could eat the majority of the pizza and not feel bloated or gut rot like you do with other crusts. Pictures are attached of the takeout that I ordered which consists of sausage and mushroom. Definitely five stars on this...
Read moreWhat's most striking when entering Smash Pizza is the overall size of the space itself. While the storefront seems to imply a fairly small interior, the dining area quickly opens up upon stepping through the entrance.
I was next struck by the overall upscale appearance of the interior next. For a pizza place inside a strip mall shared by a frozen yoghurt place, a coffee shop, a bank and a nail salon, I'm not sure what I expected. Regardless, the furnishings definitely project a level of sophistication not implied by the buildings facade. The floors are clearly new, the lighting is soft throughout (provided primarily through wicker basket lights over several of the tables), and the bar top is a delightful dark granite upon a rustic brick foundation.
I opted to try the New York Style pizza with pepperoni as the only topping, diet coke as my beverage. The server was very helpful, even offered to get me a smaller 10" personal sized pizza. I still got the normal size, as I wanted some to take home to eat the next day.
I'm definitely coming back here in the future, this is some of the best pizza in the Quad Cities! The stand-out for the New York Style is definitely the crust, which has the characteristic chewy, well-fermented texture of this style of pizza. I intend to come back to see how the pan pizza they make compares.
If you like pizza and haven't tried this yet, do yourself a favor and get here as soon as you can! I can't wait to return to try the other pizza, as well as pick up a loaf of the bread they have...
