After tonight I learned a valuable lesson:
Always follow fellow Yelper, and friend Gerald's impeccably accurate, and oh so well written reviews as a guide on where to go; and in this case, where NOT to go.
We had high hopes for the Plumsteadville Inn, as it's been on our list for a while. However, after flushing $175 down the drain, it fell extremely flat. From the check in process, to the very end, it was all pretty bad.
Service goes a looong way, and if our waitress were at least accommodating, and more apologetic, regarding our luke warm entrees, we wouldn't have been less disappointed.
3 out of 5 entrees were sitting in the back just dying for what must've been a while. Our entrees certainly had the potential to be good; we were left feeling shafted after having to shell out a nice hunk money for cold food.
Albeit, the waitress, offered to do "something;" but by the time she came back to check on us, it was just too late. I'm not into sending half eaten dishes back to the kitchen to get nuked. What's the point, really? The part that really burned, was she never showed her face to our table after that. She must've walked her unapologetic self past us at least 4 times. We didn't even get addressed, approached, or looked at ever again. As if it was our fault that we got cold meals or something. I could see if we were rude to her, but as a former waitress, and restauranteur I would never, ever be rude to anyone who works in the service industry, especially on a busy Saturday night. Stuff happens and I'm always so lax about it; tonight was just really bizarre as well as unacceptable. I truly never felt "uncomfortable" in a restaurant before.
So...yeah, I can't comment on how dessert was because we were never offered. We were going to order, as they looked appetizing; I guess we'll never know.
I started walking out and I guess the manager got the picture that we wanted to leave since our table had nothing left on it after other staff members cleared the remnants of our dinner. Still unaddressed and unattended, I was hoping the lack of her presence perhaps meant it was free? Alas that was just a wishful, passing thought. Not only was it not free, (which I wouldn't expect) there was not even an offer of discount, nor a complementary dessert, nor even a stinking after dinner mint. Only a big old check with a side of disappointment, with the assurance that we won't be back.
Note to the waitress: Kindness goes a long way. I know you didn't intend to make our food cold; some things may have been out of your control. Though being apologetic and trying to remedy the situation and salvage our evening out with some empathy over blatantly ignoring us would've stung much less.
But hey, on a positive note, my cold...
Read moreA minor issue, but one I feel needs to be noted: I made reservations for 2 at 3pm for Father's Day 6/19/22 through OpenTable. Got multiple texts to confirm in the days leading up to the date. So far, so good.
But here's the strange part: at around 2pm on Father's Day, I got a call from the restaurant saying they were closed between 3pm and 4pm, and could not honor our reservation at 3pm for that reason, but would be able to move us to 4pm. Fine, no big deal.
On arriving at the restaurant a few minutes before 4pm, the parking lot was packed, the outdoor seating area was full, and walking into the restaurant, it was abuzz with activity, full of diners and staff for a very busy Father's Day. It's quite clear they had not been closed between 3pm and 4pm, but had been serving the whole time, so we were left pretty miffed as to why the restaurant had called and lied about this. It's really puzzling to us why they decided to lie, instead of saying, "Hey, we overbooked and only just noticed it--can we accommodate you at 4pm?" But even that is kind of inexplicable, as there were just the two of us, so not sure why they would not have been able to just seat us at 3pm regardless. We were seated in the bar area--not the dining room--so, again, unclear why they could not have accommodated that seating an hour earlier. Regardless a simple mix up that the restaurant did not need to lie about but they did.
Anyway, not that significant of a detail, just wanted to share as it was a very odd thing to happen.
Service was terrific on a very busy Father's Day. The entire staff, from hostess to the busboys to the server (I think even the manager stopped by our table to clear plates and ask how everything was) were all extremely pleasant and professional. They were offering a free beer to Dads for the day--my husband does not drink, but there was no offer to comp the iced tea he ordered.
As an appetizer we ordered the Fried Mozzarella and it was very good--not at all the typical "frozen sticks" you get in a lot of restaurants (see photo). For our entrees, I ordered the prime rib special ($38) and my husband ordered the French Dip sandwich ($20--two dollars extra for French fries instead of chips, which I guess is indicative of our times, when serving French fries as a side adds a premium to the meal). The prime rib, served with a side of au jus and horseradish, was fine--I've had worse, and I've had better. The sides (broccoli and a baked potato) were both fresh. My husband raved about...

Sadly, disappointed to not be able to experience the brunch that is supposedly delicious. We were placed in the first room on the second floor right next to the door which you can hear anything and everything going on outside the door and downstairs as well. Was told we got "comped" with a Wawa gift card since there no breakfast. Had an issue with the tv remote not working farther away but had to be standing up closer to the tv for it to work. The toilet itself had to be adjusted since it was wobbling. The coffee setup was sad as there only coffee pack and no water was given to use/fill up the coffee machine. There was only one pack of non dairy coffee creamer so it was not even enough coffee for 2 people.
We sat at the bar for a late afternoon snack and enjoyed the bar area. Staff was very friendly!
Had reservations for dinner and was sat in the dining area separated from the bar area so the vibe was completely different. Staff was accommodating and food was good. Got the shrimp fajita salad (it was a special) which was very good. The cocktails were new so staff couldn't make any recommendations on which ones to pick. Gave feedback on Morgan's Bioluminescence which needed a touch of citrus/lime juice from the lime wedge since it was a bit sweet (I love sweet drinks but this was a bit too sweet even for me) but enjoyed the dinner portion of our visit.
We went back downstairs for a drink & dessert and listened to the live music. Thoroughly enjoyed our experiences with the staff in the bar/restaurant area.
Overall, the restaurant/bar was excellent but the innkeeper for the inn did not seem to like our feedback on our issues when my husband called on Monday to...
