I know you just opened but that is pretty bad. I order an Ekolu and the individual scoops white rice and Mac - but doesn't ask if I want brown rice or want to substitute anything. I am fine as white rice was what I was going to get anyway. I then get to the 'meat' portion of the plate and I ask for Pig. They look at me like I am insane. I then, say I would like pig. They pick up the metal plate and say, "There is none." So, I pause say, "Are you sure? Are you planning on making more?" They respond, "We are not." I then ask for steak. "No steak." I look at them for a bit and ask them as I don't see any Kotsu, "That is a ten minute wait." So at this point the only option is "chicken." I don't want grilled chicken. So, I say, "Just give me a side of macaroni salad." She seems to understand but when I get to the register after she talks to her boss she proceeds to ring me up as an Eko plate. I then say, "What are you doing?" She said, "Well it is in a big box so that is the price." I pause and say open it, "She goes oh, I know there is just rice and mac in there." I pause and say, "I don't want that, I just want a side of mac." She looks at it and then tries to ring it up as a veggie Eko; which I then say, "No, take the box away and ring me up as a side of mac." She then has to have a conversation with three other individuals before scooping two pieces of Mac (which should could have just transferred from the larger box as that was already in there) and charged me that or just given me the box and comped the 50 cents of rice. Either way, poor food management currently if you're out of the most popular dish being the Pork followed by the steak. Maybe in a month it'll be less popular. The Boise/Meridian location is great though. Hope you...
Read moreHandi-capped, but hard to find parking. Long line with no concerns for Handi-cap people and the standing wait. Offered me three things, white rice, shredded cabbage and macaroni with mayonnaise. Yuke, to all three. I got the rice and macaroni, very disappointing. I wonder how long those scoops have been in that water? Terriyaki??? Where??? The chicken was burned around the edges. I'm still burping nasties seven hours later. I've cooked for over 50 years and could really show them how to soak, flavor and bring people back. Wish I could set up a shop nearby. I finally get up to the register. I'm told I am only allowed one scoop of rice: nice to know. Never told. And that the steak, tough and chewy, is only allowed 3-ounce portion. By asking them about my mostly rice meal, they, three people at the register, then say this is the right portion. Then proceed to ad $1.99 to my meal listed as extra steak???? Never said they were adding this. I just don't see the excitement of having this fast-food joint in Pocatello. Glad to know where...
Read moreLove this place, and frustrated by the negative reviews I'm seeing! Yes it's in a smaller location and yes the parking isn't great, but that's the nature of trying to find somewhere to land in Pocatello. I walked over from Butterburr's and did just fine.
They JUST opened and so were hopping busy, but that too will calm down in a few weeks! I happily waited 50 minutes for my food and I'm so glad I did. The Kahlua pig is one of the best things my tongue has ever had the privilege of tasting 😍 The teriyaki chicken is wonderful too, as are the veggies! The service was friendly and the restaurant was very clean, music wasn't too loud. In another month this will be a frequent lunch spot for me once it's not so busy.
To everyone posting/reading negative reviews, recognize that so much of the problem is just because they JUST opened, and give them a chance! A little grace period...
