We have been here twice so far. And I don’t know as I can offer sufficient praise.
First, the staff. They are all super nice and very helpful. Also VETERANS… they give you a nice discount, and my server last time not only noted the discount, but acknowledged the service given. That was a VERY nice touch.
The atmosphere – Its very relaxing and very well constructed. I often find myself feeling uncomfortable after a while of sitting in a restaurant. Typically when I eat out, the benches and seats begin to be very uncomfortable, and once Ive paid, it feels like the staff is just waiting for us to leave so they can clear things and get the table ready for the next couple. I felt that the seating was sufficiently comfortable, that I could sit there for a longer period of time. But the best part was the atmosphere which seemed to be promoted. There was no rushed feeling to get in and get out. My wife and I both had the impression that we were welcome there to finish our conversation. We did not observe the typical push to get out now… you’ve paid… be gone with you. To say that this us a vwry inviting place to eat would be an understatement.
The food – Both times we have been there my wife has ordered the Mascarpone French Toast with the coconut syrup. She was extremely pleased with it. The French toast is served very different from what I am accustomed to. It comes out as almost a bread pudding rather than what you normally think of as French toast. The portion sizing is more than sufficient to fill you, and saying its tasty is an understatement. My first time, I ordered a fairly standard meat, eggs, and potatoes… it was good. But the second time, I ordered the biscuits and gravy. I have to be honest, biscuits and gravy is one of my benchmarks for how good a place is. I LOVE biscuits and gravy and its very easy to differentiate between BAD biscuits and gravy and something the is sufficient. It is also VERY easy to tell when something has gone beyond sufficient and has reached the point of being really good. For me there are few things (as far as meals are concerned) as off-putting as substandard biscuits and gravy. I completely enjoyed it… and while I have some prejudice to what I prepare at home, if I am going to go out and order it, this was some of the best I have ever had.
If I had to find ANY criticism for this place, first off, any critical comments would be very minor, and second, almost anything I could add as far as criticism would simply reflect the newness of the staff, but I would quickly add that I don’t anticipate they would continue as experience grows…. So… onto the negligible critical comments. There are some quirks as the kitchen and front staff work through the newness of the operation, but again, it was also very apparent that these were small hiccups and absolutely nothing which would stop me from going back. These hiccups will be soon resolved. Second, and this is more of a preference rather than anything wrong. Biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon is simply my most favorite breakfast. When the biscuits are good and the gravy is rich and full of flavor (and sausage), its an absolutely indulgent treat for me. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the breakfast here, however, when I eat biscuits and gravy, I prefer a bit more gravy. Again, neither critical comment is anything which will stop me from going back.
My family will be returning for more. I cant wait to try their lunch/dinner menu and completely expect that the food quality and flavor will be equally exceptional.
Had lunch there today (11/10). It was ex exceptional.
We've been back several times now. The food is exceptional. Absolutely the only concern I have is the time it takes to be seated, or the time it takes for someone to show up at your table. Neither are really excessive, but you have to understand going in that this is not going to be a quick lunch break from work when you are short on time. The food is definitely worth the wait... just be warned about...
Read moreWalked in about twenty after seven and stood at the front counter for about five minutes before anyone came out from the back. Store was dead empty of any customers yet there were tables that had not been bussed. The young lady who finally came out was pleasant and apologized. Brought me the drink I asked for And went to alert a server. Not thirty seconds later a young man came out who not only did not introduce himself so I still don’t know his name but his attitude was terrible. How dare I tear him from doing nothing in the back with what I can only assume is an all female Staff to taking my order. He approached my table and with a short tone asked what I wanted to order. I had not even picked up the menu yet. I told him as much and that I had only been in my seat for less than a minute. Again he was inconvenienced so he went away and began to clear tables and sweep. I sat for another fifteen minutes before he took my order. During the course of my meal I did not see another person but they were definitely heard. I heard loud conversations about why one of the females is a hoe and why the complaining about the ribeyes being small today. The laughing a conversing I am sure is great but not where customers can hear it. I run restaurants for a living and none of these people would Continue to work for me. In the same 90 second period I received my appetizer, side salad and meal. I did not receive my drink until I asked a second time. I finished my meal and paid but nothing about this was enjoyable and I will not return. The food was not prepared. My stake was not only rare but internally still cold. I had asked for medium. I order the loaded mashed potatoes and it came out as a solid mass instead of a single bite and it to (when broken apart) was stone cold. The lettuce for my salad was a mixture of iceberg and mixed green and was brown and wilted. The Fries pickles however were delicious as was the Huckleberry Lemonade once I received it. I do not however ever Need to hear about what happens when one of your employees is giving head to her boyfriend ever again. I WAS UP FRONT AT MY TABLE AND THEY WERE ALL IN THE BACK. ARE YOU SERIOUS. I was actually very excited to try this place as it was not here when I last lived here. I...
Read moreMy daughter and I have been here 3 times. I don't like to rate an experience on a single visit. Well it was 3 times too many and today was the last time we will go. The food, at best is warm, NOT hot. The hot plates are not designed to actually heat the food, they are to help keep it hot. Tonight they only had one server. I am not sure if she was in charge of scheduling or just the one who was trying to make the best of it. We arrived about 5:45 pm and stood at the door for almost 10 minutes before she had time to seat us and then it took forever for her to make it back to our table to take our orders. When she finally made it back to refill our drinks I asked her how much longer because we really needed to make it to the pharmacy before they closed at 7 pm. It was currently 6:25 pm. She went to check and brought our food out about 2 minutes later, barely warm. I noticed that someone had poured quite a bit of pepper on the veggies. They definitely need a lighter hand there. I ordered the chicken fried steak. It literally looked like pre-formed mystery meat. We ate fairly quickly and waited for our check for almost 20 minutes. By 7:05 pm, after the pharmacy had closed, we decided to just go to the counter. There was a new girl there and the server was trying to help this girl check people out but was clearly struggling with a few checks in front of us. We finally left at almost 7:15 pm. All total we were there about an hour and a half when it should not have taken more than 45 minutes. One side of the restaurant had all of the chairs on the tables. That made it look like they were closing, not open for dinner. The two previous occasions were not much better except there were more servers available. It still took a long time to get our food and when we finally got it, it was either cold or just barely warm. I just can't recommend this place. We tried our best to give them every opportunity to take care of the customers but it has only gotten worse. I wish them luck and I truly hope they can get enough staff to help them speed things up as well as work on the quality...
