This has been my family's go to place to eat since we moved to Pocatello 4 years ago. I will never eat here again! We have eaten here on days that we were the only ones in the building right when they opened and Friday night's with a party of 10 when they had both sides of the place open and they were slammed. Some days the service is great and others it depends on who your server is and how busy they are. Soda refills take a bit sometimes, but that is understandable and once in a while orders get messed up, but hey it happens. The last time we came in we ordered our drinks and waited longer than normal for them to come and our food took way too long. The first person of 4 to need a refill had the waitress take their glass before food hit the table and never got it back! He went his entire meal without a drink. The rest of us finally flagged the waitress down for refills at the same time we needed to go boxes. We went our whole meal without refills, trying to get the waitresses attention for napkins and for more salsa. Her excuse for not bringing the drink back... I forgot! When we asked for a manager as we were leaving we got a fake apology and an excuse of the table across from you thought they had bugs in their soda so we thought the machine had a problem. We watched everyone else in the restaurant get refills from other servers for over an hour. The whole time we were eating the table next to us had 2 young girls at it and a male server that kept chatting with them, bringing them everything they asked for and barely left their table. Turns out he is Nick the new owner. On our way out as we were paying we let him know we are in there all the time and that our service was horrible tonight. His response was we were slammed what do you want me to do? We let him know he did nothing. Never came to our table never apologized and the icing on the cake... he had the old owner who is still around to help manage slam 2 dollars on the counter as a refund for the drink we never had! Clearly she has given up and doesnt care to keep the customers she once worked hard to keep and he has no business managing anything period! So if you are a young girl in their for ice cream, soda and chips you will get amazing service from the new owner himself. If you are a family paying $60 dollars for dinner on a night when only half the restaurant is open, is clearly not packed and are lucky enough to get horrible service like we did Nick will make it clear you are income for him and that he doesn't...
Read moreQuick summary: I would give 0 stars if I could. The service was horrible except for the host, the food tasted like a white kids attempt at making Mexican food, and I will NEVER go there again.
Our server was Shirley Mesa. She was rude and unhelpful through the entire experience. There were 5 people in my party, only one person actually enjoyed anything on their plate. The quesadillas were made with cheddar cheese - not Mexican whatsoever. The Floutes tasted like they were made with the the grease drippings from ground beef and not any actual sauce for the meat. My husband asked for 2 steak quesadillas and after everyone's order had been placed Shirley came back to the table and told him there was no a la carte option and explained that it had to come with rice and beans. She asked him if he still wanted two quesadillas despite it coming with the extra sides. He confirmed that he would like 2 quesadillas. She came back with the rest of the table's food, then told my husband that his was going to come out later because she had to re-enter it so it was at the end of the line. His came out over 10 minutes after everyone else's and she brought out two entire entrees. Each plate had a steak quesadilla, rice, and beans. We tried to tell her at that moment that we were under the impression that it had to come as a meal but could have a single quesadilla or two with the meal. She told us we were wrong and that she explained it would be two full meals. SHE DID NOT convey that accurately AT ALL. My husband ate one plate and didn't touch the other and his quesadilla tasted like a cheeseburger. When the check came we are charged just over $30 for his food. I asked to speak with the manager and she told us that even if the server didn't explain it directly, the only thing we could do is call back tomorrow to tell the owner about our experience because she didn't have the ability to adjust the bill. I paid because I wasn't interested in dealing with the dine and dash ticket. The original amount was $85, then after my card was run it was $107 due to a fee that was not disclosed ahead of time and I was not given back a copy of my itemized bill. That was a massive waste of money. We would've had a better experience...
Read moreI like to see improvements and maybe this post will be obsolete in a month. But definitely not impressed with this restaurant. The quantity of the food is enormous, but the quality is kind of poor. I had charro, stewed beans with bacon and spices, and that's like one of their main sides. It tasted old and heated in the microwave. Why not have that made fresh on a daily basis? And when I mean made fresh, like soak the beans the day before, then put everything in a crock pot or however they make it in the morning prep? Other people in our group left like half their beans and rice. The main dishes were only half eaten. I think for any restaurant, the goal should be quality and serving sizes that are not too excessive. I mean really, how many of us take home a full platter of food from our serving and then eat it in the next few days? Seems like a waste of money on the restaurant side for food. They could offer regular portion size where nothing is taken home in clam shell boxes, and then an extra serving size for those who want it free of charge, because that's basically what they're doing now. The waitress who said she was also the owner was very confrontational and very difficult to work with. Maybe she was just really stressed, but they're really weren't that many people in the restaurant so who knows. If I was her, I would definitely start watching some Dave Ramsey episodes to see what I could do better in...
