I heard about this place in a post from my friend Cheryl Pizzichillo. She mentioned the Newark style Italian Hot Dog. I'm always looking for a good one down here in Ocean County. Chomp was good but they're gone. Big Dogs Cafe is now in that spot but I won't pay $15 plus for a sandwich using tiny Sabretts. La Madre Maria serves one but uses even smaller Sabretts. Oakwood Pizza is about a 25-30 minute drive from me but I called ahead to make sure they would be serving an Italian Hot Dog and to confirm that it would be on pizza bread. Cheryl said in her post that it comes on pizza bread but I've found that a lot of pizzerias that serve an IHD alternate between pizza bread and sub rolls because unlike a place specializing in this sandwich, a pizzeria can't always determine demand. Many either run out when demand is high, forcing them to use the bread they make subs with, or have to throw out pizza bread when it gets old due to low demand. I learned that they had fresh pizza bread and used Best's hot dogs which I prefer to Sabrett. It makes a big difference to me. The better Italian Hot Dog joints like Jimmy Buffs, Tommy's, Big Blues, and Dickie Dees use Best's. So I left with high hopes. Oakwood's Point Pizza makes a great Italian Hot Dog. It is better than any I've had down here and in the same class as Buffs,Tommy's, and Big Blues. It's that good. The pizza bread is fresh and made in house. The dogs are Best's and fried perfectly. Although you can't see them, the peppers are soft like I prefer. And no one gives you more. There were a ton in there. The potatoes were in chunks and also plentiful. Delicious and hot. And a great value today considering inflation. Under $10 while everyone else is over, averaging between $11 and $15. A top notch Italian Hot Dog offering quality, quantity, and value. This will be my place for them. I hear the pizza and subs are very good also. Very highly recommended.

I walked in and the place was a great temperature that was inviting to eat. Not too cold but also not so hot on a 96° day in New Jersey. The selection of pizza was clearly displayed on the counter and everywhere I looked the floor, the tables, everything was spotless. I ordered two buffalo slices with blue cheese and a pepperoni slice. All three slices folded correctly without bending or drooping in the middle and the pepperoni and cheese was not greasy at all. I enjoyed all three slices thoroughly! The blue cheese was generous as I enjoy and not overpowering in taste. It accented hot sauce and chicken beautifully. Nothing was overcooked, the crust wasn't too dark or burnt, just simply perfection! I am putting a pin on this location so I remember to stop here every time I come down to the shore! Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness during my visit!

WARNING: Unreliable and Does Not Care!! Don't even bother!! We booked AND Paid for 6 pizzas (6 DAYS in advance) to be delivered to a Kids Birthday Party at 3:30pm on a Sunday. We then called the DAY of the Party (4 hours before) to confirm the Pizza Delivery and was assured that they will be there. AT 3:30 I had to call to find out WHERE ARE THE PIZZAs??? As all parents of Kids birthday parties KNOW, you are only allotted a certain amount of time in a rented establishment to eat the Pizza and Cake, OR ELSE you are charged for additional time. Since the Pizzas arrived 20 MINUTES LATE, we had to pay for extra time. When we spoke to the Owner of the Pizzeria the next day, he said there was NOTHING HE COULD DO!! He would not give us money towards the additional time... and said he COULD NOT GUARANTEE DELIVERY TIMES!! There excuse was they were swamped with "Half Time Orders". WHAT???? ARE YOU SERIOUS??? We were LIVID!!! Even after we set this order up ahead of time and confirmed it, he did not fulfill his part of the deal!! They are unreliable and take other orders before an advanced, PAID order. VERY BAD Business Practices!! We are NEVER using...

We have spent so much money here. This particular time we got a delivery order and order the calamari as an appetizer. It was on the verge of rotten I can tell the way it smelled and tasted. And the breading was soggy I ate 1 ring 💍 and had to spit it out because it was unchewable like a rubber band. We called and they gave us a credit. The very next time we went to order takeout again they would not honor the credit. When initially complaining about the calamari the guy made every excuse on why it came to us in that state. I just find it disturbing that you're going to argue with the customer over a legitimate credit.

I wanted to come out and post an update the manager called to apologize and said they found the credit. Even left his personal cell for me to call back. Unfortunately in many situations the ball gets dropped with circuit employees that have four customer service or phone skills. This could have been...
