Though we have passed this little place for years, for some reason we never stopped in because we have our several regular spots in the area that we always go to. On a recent recommendation from friends we decided to give it a try, and we are so glad we did. It is a rarity. My first impression was of how clean and cozy the place is. My second impression was how incredibly nice the staff were. And then there's the food. It's a relatively simple but diverse menu with something for everyone. Upon arrival, the food was beautiful, incredibly fresh, and absolutely delicious. How can I go back to the so- called bread such as that served at Publix after having the baguette from Amy's? Everything was top quality and great. So far I have tried the tuna on baguette with sliced cucumbers and sliced hard-boiled egg, the French fries, and a wonderful omelette with fresh spinach. A croissant for dessert is a must, and so far we've tried the blueberry cream cheese and the strawberry cream cheese croissants and plan on trying them all eventually. I told my friends that I went with that it's going to be difficult to go to our old places in the area now that we have discovered Amy's. By the way, to say that their prices are fair is an understatement. I have owned and operated two breakfast and lunch places down here in South Florida, and I know how much effort goes into it and I have to say that unfortunately more often than not when we go out, we are disappointed with the fare. I don't consider us overly picky, and we're fairly easy customers and good tippers, but we do expect at least decent quality and service and Amy's is way above and beyond "decent." In closing ( I've probably rambled on much too long .lol) I again want to mention the service and manner of the staff and the gentleman who I believe is the owner. Nothing but hardworking and super nice and accommodating. I must admit that at times the pressures of the business got to me and I wasn't always as pleasant as I should have been, so I commend them....
Read moreWent here for the first time which will also be my last. The gentleman who sat me and doubled as my waiter was rude. I asked after ordering the complete breakfast if I could have a decaf coffee instead of the regular coffee that came with the breakfast and he mumbled there was no decaf.. But offered me a latte which I accepted. Then breakfast was brought out and I had asked for a water but never got it from my waiter. He also never came around while I was eating my meal to check how everything was. When a bus boy came to to clear out my plate I requested some jam for the toast which only came with a packet of butter. He said sure and brought it to me. I finished my meal and waited and waited and waited and eventually went in to get my check since he wasn't coming back and pay to leave. My breakfast was $7.95 on the menu and got to be $13.54!!! That's almost double. I looked at the receipt and was charged $3.30 for a lattee which was supposed to come with my breakfast and $1.40 for strawberry jam!!! Are you serious??? I guess I should count my blessings I wasn't charged for using the ketchup on the table. NEVER AGAIN! If you are going to charge for condiments that are standards in most all restaurants, let the customer know. and, if you can't offer a decaf, also, let them know there will be a fee added. On top of it, don't be a jerk and make me come in to pay my...
Read moreAmy's French Bakery & Bistro is a small restaurant located along Dixie Highway. Limited parking on the side of the business. You get the feel of the French ambiance as soon as enter. The menu had many intriguing selections such as:
All day breakfast items Hot & cold sandwiches Crepes & poutine Pastries/soup & salads/ sides Hot & cold beverages/smoothies/wine/French beer/cocktails
Of course I wanted French toast, but as usual, it was served by itself. The waitress informed me that I could order an omelette and have 2 slices of French toast as a side. Well that sounded good to me. The omelette was cooked with mushrooms, ham, and provolone...having the French toast on the side topped with fruit. Also had a glass of orange juice.
The food came out very quickly and it was delicious. The omelette was made nicely with the items I chose. Added a bit of salt & pepper for taste. Next I ate the fruit off the French toast which was fresh and sweet. The French toast was also cooked nicely and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and refreshing.
On the verge of becoming full, I took two croissants to go (butter & almond). I couldn't help myself, I had to sink my teeth into one of them...I tried the butter croissant and OMG it was yummy. It was so soft, light, flaky, and buttery. This place has...
