Imagine this. I was referred to travel here from a mutual friend of mine and the owner of this place. Our mutual friend is even considered family. So I decide to drive 30 minutes to get takeout. There was no one in line to order yet I was sort of rudely directed to order my food from the touchscreen. It would have been nice for someone to just assist me really quickly being that there was no one there ahead of me but anyhow. After finally getting my order together it was giving me trouble cashing out on the screen so The five minutes I spent Together was totally wasted. Then when I explained it to the rude man(the cook) who was in the kitchen he made me feel like I was being a pain having to order from him instead which left a taste in my mouth the food didn't stand a chance to fix.. When I got home I realized my order was wrong. That same rude man messed it up. so now I'm home hungry 30 minutes later and my order must have been someone else's because it was nothing close to what I ordered. so bad it happened to be pork and I don't eat pork. I was there for the brisket lol. So I call the restaurant and asked for a manager calmly and politely explained that my order was wrong without mentioning anything else such as the fact that such and such referred me there and that I was disappointed and offended by the man in the kitchen.. I consciously held back all of that because I didn't want to seem like I was angry or disappointed. After humbling myself I was able to speak with the owner/manager Jerell who again is mutual friends with who referred me and he apologized and told me to and I quote "come back anytime with my proof of purchase and just mention the name Jerell to whomever and I would be able to get the meal I wanted at 50% off. Which I decided to accept was fair.
Fast-forward five weeks after I was in that area traveling home from work. I called five times to ask for Jerell before I got there just to remind him and let him know I was coming back for my discounted meal.. no one answered the phone. So I arrive in the restaurant and I see that save man in the back who was rude to me and unprofessional and I told him my story with proof of purchase that day, on top of me calling and speaking with Jerell (2 min out outbound) and this man was even more rude. he said to me "well I ain't Jerell and I can't help ya" "you gonna have to speak with him" now how the hell am I going to reach this man when I don't have his personal number and I'm doing exactly what I was directed to do which was to just come on by show proof tell my story and get my discounted meal. Do you know I left again with no meal no resolution and an even worse taste in my mouth towards these people and this place. From there I went and told the person who referred me the story and they decided they won't be going back there either. As a matter of fact me and that person just ordered $3000 worth of a catering order from a brand new barbecue spot here in Fort Lauderdale right off Commercial. This order could've been for Fat Boyz but it ain't. And won't be the next times either. This brand company BBQ establishment was a class act. Professional ,reliable, hospitable and so forth.
You lost badly, and that man (cook) in the back there who's been eating up all that free food with his fingers in the back there I can assure you is...
Read moreI wanted to love this place, I’d heard great things but boy I am so disappointed tonight after receiving our Uber eats order. I want to leave an honest review to help customers and the restaurant alike. So we placed a large order through Uber eats - 2 pounds chicken, a full rack st Louis ribs, and 3/4 pound pulled pork, plus a large order of almost all the sides on the menu. So this totaled over $100 not including delivery. But we were all hungry and feeling for some good barbecue so tonight was the night. First red flag: I got a call after 20 mins saying they have no chicken and no cornbread. Fine no problem. What can I change it with? “Brisket or more pork”. We don’t really like brisket but we didn’t want more pork so I took the brisket and asked her to sub the cornbread with any other side because it didn’t matter. Easy enough right? Wrong When the order turns up, I rip open the bag cause I’m excited. I’ve been telling my husband how good the food is supposed to be. Opened the first box- the brisket looks good. Next box- cornbread. This confused me cause I thought they ran out. Then I tasted it and honestly they were better off not sending that out of the kitchen. It was dry and stale. Not good. Next box contained the fries - they were soggy because no perforation holes had been punched in the box to let the steam out Then I open the next bag- it contains all the sides. So where the hell is the ribs and pork?!! I go back outside to check my front door cause I know I must be trippin, but nothings there. I check my ring doorbell to double check, nope. It was only 2 bags of food delivered.
So in summary, what we did receive tasted ok, but my order was completely screwed up. No ribs no pork no chicken, just a box of brisket and some sides to share between 6 people for $100 plus.
So I contacted Uber told them what happened and got a refund immediately . But then I went one step further and called the restaurant to let them know what happened so they would hopefully acknowledge their mistake and make steps to not make that mistake again. I spoke politely and nicely (remember I already had received my refund so besides being disappointed and hungry, I’m not mad plus I understand things happen) and described everything I received. The woman sounded like she realized the screw up but was very nonchalant about it and I didn’t get a sorry or an apology. I then said, “I really wanted to love the food but after tonight’s experience I don’t think I’ll be ordering from your restaurant again”. Her response?... “ok”. And hung up. Ha ha! Great customer service! Don’t sweat it, I really won’t be back especially after that icing on the cake. It’s a shame because you’d think small businesses would appreciate people who place $100 orders with their restaurant and speak to them politely when they’ve screwed up big time but I guess next time the thing to do is jump in my car and take the food back and demand a full refund for...
Read moreBeen eating here for a couple years now. Normally order for pickup, never had been treated bad by the staff until tonight. I normally park in a parking spot, last time it was pouring rain, I still parked in a spot & i ran through the parking lot. When I got my food the gentleman asked me “why didn’t you park up by the curb” I said “ I didn’t want to block anyone coming in” he told me “it’s okay your fine if your just coming to pick up” I asked him if he was sure & he said “yes Im telling you it’s fine”. Spoke to me fine as any employee normally would. Tonight I pull up by the curb and walked up, a darkskin, heavier set gentleman w/ a tooth missing in the front comes out and says I can’t park there I said “oh i apologize last time a gentleman told me I could” before I could finish he cut me off and said “ nah nobody told you nothin, go park in a spot if your picking up” very unfriendly. I walk away and go park in a spot. When I come back up he starts trying to explain and I’m listening to what he’s saying. When I start trying to explain my peace he cuts me off again and says “no nobody told you that. Who told you that? Tell me. I’m the owner, nah nobody told you that.” At this point it’s extremely unprofessional so I just ask for my food. He says “is this food for you?” I said yes. He doesn’t go to grab it yet and instead continues to try and tell me I’m being dishonest. I cut him off and say “sir please let me just get my food and go” he carry’s it on until I stop talking back and finally hands me my food. I try explaining my peace one more time and he cuts me off again sayin “ Bye. Goodnight. Bye love. Goodnight love bye” Again Extremely unprofessional and just plain out rude and disrespectful. Me and my family have spent so much money here this is just disappointing. Poor customer service at the least. If there is any higher up reading this I’d really appreciate if you reached out. Not sure what his name was but if he’s employed there he doesn’t need to be dealing with customers in that way. Again, Extremely disappointed in how that...
