Located in a plaza along Powerline Rd., Fern Gully Grill offers the typical Jamaican cuisine at reasonable prices such as: * Chicken - curry, brown stew, bbq, fried * Jerk - chicken & pork * Oxtail & curry goat * Fish - brown stew & fried * Sides & soups * Vegetarian dishes * Breakfast - ackee, callaloo, saltfish, porridge * Cold beverages & natural juices The restaurant was clean with adequate table seating for customers, and had a colorful decor. I greeted two females that were behind the counter and after overlooking the menu displayed on the wall, I decided to order a medium brown stew chicken which was served with my choice of rice & peas and steamed cabbeage. Within five minutes, one of the females placed the food in a container, graciously added sauce over the rice, and hamded it to the other female who took my payment. Now when I'm having Caribbean food I love to have some fried plantains on the side. I found it odd that it wasn't served with the food...this was a first. They sold 3pcs of fried plantains for $1 so I asked for that. Here's my impression of the food as I got home: * Brown stew chicken - was tender and browned in a flavorful sauce * Rice & peas - nicely cooked to a soft consistency. The sauce from the chicken made it taste so much better * Steamed cabbage - had a bit of a crunch to it and was lightly seasoned * Fried plantains - fried nicely and was sweet...just how I like 'em Thoroughly enjoyed the food. I must come back to try other dishes that I usually does order at Jamaican restaurants

Went here with my wife on one of those days you just don't feel like cooking. I ordered the jerk chicken while my wife ordered one each of the chicken and beef meat patty. The chicken was absolutely perfect, with just the right amount of spices for me and came with rice and beans. There was SO MUCH food that there was no way it could be finished in one night, and the price was extremely affordable. My wife enjoyed her meat patties and loved the curry seasoning in one and the mild flavor of the other. The two women who waited upon us were such wonderful people. Their smiles were natural and infectious. I am super anxious to get back there and try the ox-tail or the goat curry, but I'm not sure about one of their other menu items, the goat head soup, lol!

Just stumbled across this place running some errands around the North Fort Lauderdale/Tamarac area. 5 stars for food and speed! Compared to Dutch pot the process to get your food is much quicker and attentive staff. Yes saying something to people as they enter your business goes a long way… I will be back for more lunch specials! Includes a free drink for under $10!

This is my third and LAST time here. First time was great. The lady served me nuff mackerel and nice calaloo. She was very pleasant. Second time, there was a Caucasian gentleman who was there preparing the food... I got two akai and salt fish and the thing was almost done but he scraped the bottom of the pan it couldn’t even fill it up and charged me full price. Terrible presentation and was stingy with the Calaloo as well. Third time I wasn’t even greeted but ordered the calaloo alone it was $5 for two spoonfuls in a mini container! The Callao taste like it fresh from the can! Barely seasoned and a few onions in it. All in all. Don’t come here. No one does...
