Cute place, We Waited for a reservation arrive Monday and reservation available Thursday. Place gets pretty busy and locals recommended, We Loved steaks (very spoil in Houston different steak houses for different budgets) had, had to try the best steak house in Ponca city Reservation was at 7pm, we arrive 5min before 7, party of 4. Hostess was guiding us to the second floor and our waiter look tired, annoyed she even scolded the Hostess in front of us... we order our drinks, coke was flat, tea was OK. Lemonade ok. Jack and coke better thanks to the alcohol, salad bar average. We order the house appetizer waited for a long time to get refill (sof drinks $1) again our waiter look and had that irritated vibe. We almost left, but hey We must try the best house marinade (stated on the menu) on steak and lobster. Disappointed steaks look well cooked grill, good median wear, lobster same ooo suprise no taste. We all look at each other meet was tender but no FLAVOR!!! give me something at least some salt, or melted butter maybe pepper? We call our waiter and she said they're pretty busy she can see if they can cook them again......it's been over an hour to get our unflavored steaks (after noticing that none of us care to eat our steak or lobster) her attitude change a little bit for good. Yes, we paid full price without eating half of the steaks. Place has potential but chef needs to put some flavor, love in those steaks and desserts, snickers cheesecake was room temperature overall bad experience, perhaps it's a local thing no flavor and room...
Read moreOk. I arrived at the front door at the proper time. Door was locked. A man come up from behind and says, " you gotta go down thru the alley." OK. So I go thru the alley and low and behold i find this door locked as well. Jokingly I say to the laggard, Is there a pass code as well? He grins comes to door and does that knock that all know. Dump dump de dump dump. Magically the door opens and I enter. The place is medium.lit. A loft overhead and resembles a hunting lodge. I like the place immediately. I find my party of 10 and take my place. Nicole, a sight for sore eyes is our server. I liked Nicole even better than my surroundings. We ordered steaks at a modest 40 bucks per 16 Oz ribeye. The steak was as luck would have it prepared an arms length away. The woman cook was efficient and had been cooking there for a while. The steak was cooked perfectly. I know this because I have 38% of the amount of teeth most adults have. I had no problem chewing or swallowing my meal. Nor did I have to use my napkin to slyly remove a well gnawed on piece of grissle ineknownst to my group. The steak are aged 28 days in a nice supper club that is in its 49th year of business. I hope to return. Maybe on Nicole's day off with her on my arm. I'm just saying. Thumbs up. Have yourself a fine...
Read moreI give the rusty barrell 1 star for the following reasons first of all they give you 1 hour to finish your dinner I don't know about you but I like to sit and enjoy my meal without being rushed dinner comes out before you can finish your salad. It was my wife's birthday and we both ordered the prime rib she ordered hers extremely rare it came out medium and I ordered mine rare and it was more medium rare. I feel when a dinner costs 150 dollars for 2 people you should be able to take the time and enjoy your meal. No sour cream for my baked potato and no horse radish for my prime rib had to share with my wife because they had the poor waitress so overloaded with tables and because of the limited time you have to eat your dinner you didn't dare try to get the condiments you were missing. I must say the waitress Jennifer was excellent considering the conditions she was forced to work with. So in conclusion I would not recommend this restaurant for fine dining. This is the 3rd time we gave this place a try my wife got sick off the salad bar the first 2 times so she skipped the salad bar this time and thankfully didn't get sick this time but we will not be going back again. Ridiculous to spend that much money only to be rushed...
