For the most part, the food was good, I really enjoyed the brussel sprout appetizer and beef tips dinner. My boys stated the crawfish cornbread was really good as well.
The problem I had was with the evening manager last night (2/24/24), I did not get her name.
Our server took our orders and asked each of us which salad we wanted, house or caesar, we each gave our choice. When the bill came there was a $4 charge to add a salad, I questioned it and the server stated it was for my son's meal since he ordered a "small plate" and not and "entree", the former doesn't come with a salad. She confessed that she did ask my son which salad he wanted and shared that she was new it was only day 4. She said she would talk to the manager to remove it. They were in earshot, and the manager stated that since we consumed it, we had to pay for it. And made the poor new server tell me that. I could tell she was nervous and felt bad. I told her it was OK. However, I decided to talk with the manager, as I saw her walk by. She was very matter of fact and appeared annoyed to even have to talk with me. She told me the same thing and argued the same point. She stated the server asked if we wanted to "add" a salad, I told her that is not what happened and that the server even admitted she make a mistake and asked my son which salad he wanted. The manager abruptly said, "I'll be back", or something like that, and walked away. A few minutes had passed. In that time, the server brought me my processed credit card. Later, we noticed the manager talking to the server again. At this point, we had been waiting awhile, I just signed the cc slip and was about to leave. The server returned, again I could see she was very timid and anxious, she stated the manager said she could refund the $4 to my card (they wanted my card again, as mentioned I was poised to leave). I decided to just leave. I was very frustrated and felt really bad for the server, I told her it wasn't her fault and it was the principle of the matter and that I wasn't upset with her.
My reason for writing this review is, that manager does NOT know customer service, she shouldn't have argued with me, she should've returned to me herself after I spoke with her instead of sending the server, who again was brand new! The manager was very unprofessional, managers are supposed to deal with customer issues, solve problems, and not make them worse.
Oh, and to top it off, the salad was horrible, 95% of it was the rib of the lettuce, barely any leafy parts, and I only ate 3 bites of mine.
Roux, you need to do some manager...
Read moreLOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I have eaten here twice recently and it was wonderful both times! This is definitely my new favorite place! My mom and I went for a girls night last week. She had the crab cakes and love them. I had the C'est Bon Chicken Roulades and it was superb. The chicken was paired with rice pilaf and steamed broccoli. Rice aides are not my fave and had I been paying attention I would have asked to switch it for something else, and that would have been a big mistake. Something about the rice pilaf made it the perfect side with this chicken. I cant describe how the dish and sides were just total perfection. So perfect that I had to go back a few nights later with my fiance and son. We went back on Monday night, when kids eat free. Naturally, my son preferred to have a burger, which was not on the kids menu. It was truly a delicious burger. My fiance had an oyster and mushroom appetizer that he loved. His meal was the Eggplant Napolean, which was also excellent. I had the Chicken Roulades again, and they did not disappoint. Also, both times I was there we have the Fried Mozzarella. I am a huge fan a cheesesticks in general, but this was on a whole different level. Hands down, the best Fried Mozzarella I have ever had. It can't be called a cheesestick because it is round. It is served with their marinara sauce which is also delicious. Seriously, I dream about this Fried Mozzarella at night. It was so, SO good! I haven't had dessert there yet because I have been stuffed with the wonderful food both times I was there. The ONLY thing that could have made these meals any better for me is if they served La Crema Pinot Noir. It is my fave. I did have the Pinot Noir they served, which was fine. Overall, I would say Roux and Brew is the best restaurant in Ponchatoula! I will be...
Read moreThe food here is probably good, but the staff member was as rude as ever, I went to this place to pick up food for two disabled ladies that placed an order over the phone, and paid for it, and also included a tip of gratuity, when I went there to pick it up, I inquired about the order, and was treated as if I did something to them, the waitress, or whoever she was brought the order out, and it was bagged up, but this is the kicker, when she handed the bag to me, she held it with two fingers as if I had a disease, and the attitude of rudeness, and being mean was written all over her face, which I could not see because she had a mask on, but the eye's will tell everything when a person smiles, or their mad, and the body language will do the same, I frequent plenty of restaurant's, and I grade them on the staff's professionalism, not just the food, the food could be a 5 Michelin Star restaurant, which I have been too, but if the staff is terrible in their service of being professional, then the place will be graded at what it deserves, because the interaction with staff, and guest should be that the guest has a very good time, we all know that the wait staff works mainly on tips, but if they are rude, and ugly to the guest then they are not truly embracing what the word tips actually means, which is To Insure prompt service, that means every part of the guest experience should rely upon this measure of success, so sadly I have to give it a two star rating, because of staff not...
