Mom and pop bakery that has a good selection of baked goods to help calm that sweet tooth cravings as you travel down route 66. With a steady stream of patrons, this was definitely a happening place. Some notable items are the huge cinnamon roles, with or without frosting. Along with danishes, scones, turnovers, and cookies, I dont think you could go wrong with any choice. Staff was friendly and attentive to all the customers who came in.

Cute little shop, plenty to choose from! I came in for the first time and saw the many options ranging from danishes, donuts, to cookies. I picked up this Almond Butter Pastry. Not too sweet. There are tons of almonds and flavor. The pastry dough was fluffy and moist. The icing on top was creamy and light. A great balance! It's worth another try.

You can never go wrong with a Pfaff's donut or cake! I have been getting pastries, donuts, cookies, and cakes from this bakery since I was very young, and they have never disappointed me. I am particularly fond of the chocolate zits (a miniature chocolate long-John filled with a dense whipped cream) and their almond crescents.

My baby brother is graduating college from Quincy University in May of 2014. My sister and I decided to take a road trip down to visit him at school before we run out of time and he's no longer a student there. I have never been to his college, so I was anxious to get down there to pay him a visit, see the house he's living in, check out the historic campus, visit his favorite places and maybe meet some of his friends. I had some vacation time to burn up as did my sister, so we planned a trip down.

I didn't really realize that driving down to Quincy, IL was such a boring drive....why didn't anyone warn me about that!?

Jen and I decided that the way to make this trip extra fun was for her to be my navigator and find 'nearby places' on the Yelp app while on our drive down to see our brother. All I could think of that we could probably find would be a cutesy restaurant and maybe we would be lucky enough to find a bakery in some adorable little town. AND WE DID!

I'm constantly on the hunt for a good baked good. As we make our way down I-55, we are randomly pulling up nearby places on the Yelp app. Finally, Pfaff Bakery popped up!!!! "Quick Jen, which exit? I don't want to miss it!"

We made our way through the adorable town of Pontiac, IL and found this cutesy-woot little bakery right on the Main Street directly off the square that makes up downtown Pontiac.

We snapped a few pics for Yelp and made our way through the front door of what I can only describe as an old school bakery. You can smell the decades of baked goodness when you walk through the door.

They have a little bit of everything! -Cookies that can only be homemade. ($6 per doz.) -Hungarian Nut Bread which I was tempted to buy but didn't and now regret. (About $8, I believe) -donuts that I can only describe as the softest and freshest donuts I have encountered in my entire life. They seemed to be made with more of a wheat flour or something because they were not the standard white dough you find in someone's donuts like dunkin. -my sister and I immediately found the brownies and ordered two (because they were quite small) -she spotted what looked like a carrot cake bar and after asking what it was, she found out it was a pumpkin bar. I was not interested. That was, until she shoved it in my face while I was driving and insisted I taste it. I'm quite angry I did not order my own. Luckily, my sister was kind enough to share a few bites with me. Thanks, sis!

Out the door, our total war just over $11. I really felt like that must have been a problem but we asked and it was $11. Woah! I felt like I was stealing from them.

We ate almost all our treats within about 20 hours and shared a treat or two with our baby bro who thoroughly enjoyed their baked goods as well.

Next time I get lost in Illinois, I'm gonna make sure I get lost on 55! Otherwise, I'll have to wait until May of 2014 when we roll on down to Quincy and well have to be sure make a stop in Pontiac for some baked goods I have been dreaming about for the past two weeks!

Any of my pals make their way down to Pontiac, please don't hesitate to stop and grab some treats for yourself and me, if its not too...

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. As a fellow small business owner, I’m disgusted and disappointed every time I walk in this bakery. The attitude of the family and their staff is terrible. They act like you’re a bother. I purchase hundreds of dollars of baked goods from them as gifts for my clients every year from this bakery. However, I’m looking for an alternative because of the terrible attitude and the treatment you get from this business. I bought some heart cookies this morning for my clients and the matriarch of this family owned business sighs and is pissed and says, “I don’t have anymore left after this” referring to what she had in the case. Guess what sweetheart, the early bird gets the worm. Want more business? Don’t want to run out of heart cookies on Valentine’s Day? Make more product!?! What...

This bakery is the best. Homemade bread taste so good. My favorite is the old fashion donut. Taste fresh, buttery, vanillaish, cinnamony goodness. Bite into a fried crunchy layer and moist fresh inside. Half donut is covered in sugar icing. Sooo good! Horned creme is my son's favorite. I thought the creme inside should of been a puddinglike taste but it was more like homemade cake icing stuffed inside and was also used to stuff other donuts. Not my thing but it is the towns favorite. Definitely stop by for out of this world...
